Description
The .360 Buckhammer came out of a partnership between Henry and Remington Ammunition, and it was designed from the ground up for lever guns like this one. It pushes .35 caliber bullets fast enough to anchor whitetail and black bear cleanly inside 200 yards, with a straight-wall case that has made it a favorite in a lot of Midwest deer camps. Pair that cartridge with Henry's hardened polished brass receiver, brass buttplate, brass barrel band, and deeply checkered American walnut furniture, and you get a rifle that hits hard and looks the part doing it.
Two Ways to Feed This Side Gate Lever Action
The H024 was the first centerfire Henry to wear a side loading gate, and it kept the traditional removable tube magazine too. Top off through the gate while you're hunting, or pull the inner tube to unload safely at the end of the day without cycling live rounds through the action. It holds five rounds in the tube, and the lever throw is as smooth as you'd expect from Henry.
Sights, Optics, and Handling on the H024-360BH
Out of the box you get a fully adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight with a diamond insert and an ivory bead up front, a classic setup that works well in timber. The receiver is drilled and tapped for a Weaver 63B base, so mounting a low-power scope for those longer shots across a bean field is a quick job. At 38.3 inches overall with a 20 inch round blued steel barrel and a weight of 7.5 pounds, it carries nicely on a sling (swivel studs are already installed) and comes up fast when a buck steps out.
Why the .360 Buckhammer Henry Earns a Spot in the Safe
There is not much this rifle does not do well inside sensible hunting distances. The transfer bar safety means the hammer only touches the firing pin when you pull the trigger, the straight grip walnut stock points naturally, and the fit and finish are what Henry built its reputation on. It is a working hunting rifle first, but it is the kind you will find excuses to bring out year round.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I mount a scope on the Henry H024-360BH?
Yes. The brass receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory and accepts a Weaver 63B scope base. A low-power variable optic pairs really well with the .360 Buckhammer's effective range, and plenty of owners run one while keeping the buckhorn sights as a backup.
What is .360 Buckhammer good for?
It's a straight-wall cartridge developed by Henry and Remington specifically for lever action rifles, throwing .35 caliber bullets with plenty of punch for deer, hogs, and black bear. It shoots flatter and carries more energy than older straight-wall options, with a practical range of about 200 yards. Recoil is manageable, so it works well for newer hunters too.
How does loading work on the Side Gate model?
You get both options. There's a loading gate on the right side of the receiver for topping off in the field, plus Henry's traditional removable inner magazine tube. The tube makes unloading simple and safe since you never have to cycle live rounds through the chamber.
Does this Henry have a manual safety?
It uses a transfer bar safety instead of a crossbolt or tang switch. The transfer bar only lets the hammer strike the firing pin when the trigger is fully pulled, so the rifle can be carried with the hammer down over a loaded chamber. It keeps the lines clean and the operation old-school simple.
