Griffin's Recce line has been around since 2012, and it has earned its reputation the hard way, through steady refinement instead of hype. The Recce 5K AM is the current Mod 7 evolution of the compact K-can, and it represents a real shift in how the suppressor is built. Instead of stacked and welded baffles, the core is 3D printed as a single solid piece from Griffin's proprietary Nickel 625X powder alloy using DMLS additive manufacturing. The result is a can with strength that welded stacks simply cannot match, and in Griffin's own testing the alloy showed a big jump in yield and tensile strength over standard printed Inconel 625 at extreme temperatures.
K-cans always involve a tradeoff, but this one keeps the compromise small. At 1.5 inches in diameter and around 13.7 ounces, it stays compact and handy on a carbine without turning your rifle into a boat paddle. The printed core works together with the integrated flash hider end cap, which Griffin calls their best performing end cap yet, cutting first-round flash to a minimum and virtually wiping it out on follow-up shots. Sound performance also improved over the previous generation, making this the strongest Recce 5K they have built. Backpressure stays low too, which means less gas in your face and a happier gun overall.
The can uses Griffin's Taper Mount-RI rapid index system, which is backward compatible with existing Taper Mount muzzle devices and holds far more securely than direct thread setups. A Taper Mount EZ-Brake in 1/2×28 comes in the box, and since it requires no timing, installation is about as painless as it gets. If you already run Taper Mount devices on other rifles, this can drops right into your setup.

With the included EZ-Brake replacing your existing muzzle device, the added length stays modest, and using a longer Taper Mount device reduces the added length even further since more of the can sleeves back over the mount.
