Description

Most rifles headed for match season need a trigger swap, a new charging handle, and a better muzzle device before they see their first stage. The DDM4 V7 Pro shows up with all of that handled. Daniel Defense built this one specifically for multi-gun competition, starting with an 18" cold hammer forged barrel in chrome moly vanadium steel with their S2W strength-to-weight profile. It's chrome lined, HP/MPI tested, and spun with a 1:7 twist that stabilizes everything from cheap 55 grain plinking ammo to heavy 77 grain match loads. Pair that with a rifle-length gas system and the Gen II Muzzle Climb Mitigator up front, and you get a gun that stays flat through transitions and barely moves between shots.

Where the V7 Pro Earns Its Name

The parts list here is what separates this from a standard DDM4. The Geissele Super Dynamic 3-Gun trigger gives you a light, short pull with a fast reset that makes tight splits feel effortless. The Radian Competition Raptor charging handle and Talon ambidextrous selector, both finished in red Type III anodizing, are the same upgrades competitors typically buy separately. The lower receiver features an enhanced flared magwell that makes reloads under a timer noticeably more forgiving, and a QD swivel point sits at the rear of the receiver for sling options.

Handling and Real-World Feel

The MFR 15.0 handguard keeps the front end slim and light, with a full-length Picatinny rail on top for maximum sight radius and M-LOK slots at seven positions for lights, hand stops, or a bipod. Daniel Defense's buttstock and pistol grip wear their Soft Touch overmolding, which grips well even with sweaty hands late in a match. At 7.4 pounds bare, it balances nicely with an LPVO mounted.

More Than a Match Gun

While the V7 Pro was designed around 3-gun stages, that 18" barrel and soft-shooting gas system make it a strong pick for predator hunting, longer-range steel, or just a premium do-everything AR. It ships optic-ready with a 32-round magazine, and the Gun Metal Gray Cerakote sets it apart from the sea of black rifles on the rack.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the DDM4 V7 Pro come with sights or an optic?

No, it ships optic-ready with a full-length Picatinny top rail and no sights installed. That's by design, since most buyers running this rifle in competition pair it with an LPVO or red dot of their choice. The uninterrupted rail also gives you plenty of room for offset irons or a magnifier if you want them.

What makes the V7 Pro different from a standard DDM4 V7?

The Pro is the competition build. You get an 18" barrel with a rifle-length gas system instead of 16" with mid-length, plus a Geissele SD-3G trigger, a Radian Competition Raptor charging handle, a Radian Talon ambi selector, and the Gen II Muzzle Climb Mitigator. Those upgrades alone would cost a few hundred dollars in parts and labor if you added them to a base rifle yourself.

Is the 18" barrel on the DDM4 V7 Pro accurate enough for longer range work?

Yes. The cold hammer forged chrome moly vanadium barrel is HP/MPI tested and the 1:7 twist handles heavy match bullets like 69 and 77 grain loads very well. Owners regularly report right around 1 MOA performance with quality ammo, which is more than enough for match stages and steel well past 500 yards.

How does the Geissele SD-3G trigger feel compared to a mil-spec trigger?

It's a completely different experience. The SD-3G is a single-stage trigger with a light, short pull and a very fast reset, built specifically for speed shooting. Compared to a gritty mil-spec trigger, it makes fast pairs and transitions feel almost automatic, which is a big reason this rifle is popular with 3-gun competitors.
