Its 50/50 point of impact splits the pattern evenly around your point of aim, so the same gun that crushes crossers on the sporting course feels right at home when a rooster flushes in front of you. Built by Miroku in Japan like every Citori since 1973, this one carries the same reputation for boxlock durability that has kept these guns running for generations.
The 30 inch lightweight profile barrels wear a flat floating vent rib with ventilated side ribs, plus ivory front and mid bead sights for a clean, consistent sight picture. Inside, chrome plated 3 inch chambers and Vector Pro lengthened forcing cones smooth out shot transition and help tighten patterns. Browning includes three extended Invector-Plus Midas grade choke tubes in Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder, which covers everything from skeet distances to late season birds without buying another tube. At around 7 pounds 12 ounces, it swings smoothly through targets without wearing you out on a long walk.
The gloss finished Grade II American black walnut stock and forearm carry crisp 18 lines per inch cut checkering, and the polished blued steel receiver shows off the Citori CXS logo in gold on each side. The gold plated trigger is part of Browning's Triple Trigger system, which lets you swap trigger shoes to fine tune length of pull to your hands. An Inflex recoil pad takes the sting out of heavier loads and helps guide the comb away from your cheek on recoil, something you will appreciate around station four when the round count climbs.
Plenty of gun writers have called the CXS one of the best values in the Citori line, and it is easy to see why. You get genuine target gun features, hammer ejectors, and wood worth showing off, all in a package that transitions from Saturday clays to opening weekend without a hiccup. It is the kind of over/under you buy once and shoot for decades.
It means the pattern centers evenly around your point of aim, half above and half below the bead. Dedicated trap guns often shoot 60/40 or higher so rising targets stay visible above the rib, but a 50/50 setup is more versatile. That flat-shooting design is what makes the CXS work so well as a crossover gun for sporting clays, skeet, and bird hunting alike.
It ships with three extended Invector-Plus Midas grade choke tubes in Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder, plus a T-wrench for swapping them. The extended design lets you change tubes quickly without tools digging into the muzzle. Any Invector-Plus tube will fit if you want to add a Skeet or Light Modified down the road.
Yes, the CXS uses Browning's Triple Trigger system, which allows you to reposition the gold plated trigger shoe to fine tune your length of pull. It is a simple way to dial in fit without cutting the stock or adding spacers. Additional trigger shoe styles are available from Browning if you prefer a different feel.
