The XS Sights DXT2 Big Dot takes a completely different approach than the usual three-dot setup. Instead of asking your eye to line up two dots against one, it uses a large orange front dot over a shallow V-notch rear so your focus drops straight to the front sight and the target. That's the whole idea behind the express-style "dot-the-i" picture, and it's a big reason folks with aging eyes or anyone who wants a faster draw gravitate toward these. The front dot measures 0.188 inches wide, which XS calls the biggest front sight on the market, and the extra surface area is what makes it so easy to grab in a hurry.
The front is doing double duty. There's a photoluminescent Glow Dot that soaks up ambient light and keeps glowing as things get dim, and a tritium vial in the center for true no-light illumination that never needs a battery. The convex shape isn't just for looks. It gives the dot more surface to catch light, so it charges up brighter than a flat sight would. The orange outline is the pick for daylight contrast, holding its own against busy backgrounds and shadow, then handing off to the tritium once it's genuinely dark. Both use the same Glow Dot and tritium combo, but the colors shine in different conditions. Orange gives you the best contrast in daylight and against varied backgrounds, while yellow charges up and glows the brightest once the light drops. Eyesight varies person to person, so some folks simply see one color better than the other.
Yes, plenty of people install these at home. The rear goes in with a hammer and punch or a sight pusher, and the kit includes the Glock front sight tool and thread locker to get the front squared away.
