The 3.5 inch chamber gives you room to run the heaviest turkey loads on the market, and the 24 inch back-bored barrel keeps the gun quick to swing through tight timber while still throwing dense, even patterns.
Unlike a bead-sighted field gun, the SXP Turkey Hunter comes with adjustable TruGlo fiber-optic sights that let you fine-tune your point of impact, which matters a lot when a tight turkey choke shifts your pattern a few inches at distance. Winchester includes one Invector-Plus Extra Full turkey choke tube, so you can head straight to the pattern board. The alloy receiver is also drilled and tapped, making it easy to add a red dot or scope down the road if that is more your style.
The SXP runs on a four-lug rotary bolt with dual steel action bars, so the slide cycles smooth and straight without binding when you need a fast second shot. The bore and chamber are hard chrome plated, which shrugs off spring rain and makes cleanup quick after a muddy morning, and the black chrome bolt keeps things cycling slick season after season. An Inflex Technology recoil pad takes real bite out of stout turkey loads, and the textured synthetic stock stays put in wet hands. At roughly 6.5 pounds with sling swivel studs already installed, it carries easy on long walks between setups. It is a purpose-built turkey gun that gets the important details right without piling on extras you do not need.
Yes, it ships with one Invector-Plus X-Full turkey choke tube installed, so you can start patterning turkey loads right away. It uses the Invector-Plus choke system, so additional constrictions are easy to find if you want to run this gun for other seasons.
You can. The alloy receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory, so adding a base for a red dot or low-power scope is a simple job. The included TruGlo fiber-optic sights are adjustable too, so plenty of hunters skip the optic entirely and just dial in the irons.
Not at all. The 3.5 inch chamber gives you the option for maximum payload turkey loads, but the gun cycles 2.75 and 3 inch shells just fine. A lot of hunters find 3 inch loads through the extra full choke pattern plenty tight while being noticeably easier on the shoulder.
At around 6.5 pounds it is a light gun, so stout loads will let you know they went off, but the Inflex Technology recoil pad does a good job soaking up and redirecting the punch away from your cheek. For a shot or two at a tom each spring, it is very manageable, and most patterning sessions only take a handful of rounds.
