The SX4 Extreme Defender is what happens when Winchester takes a proven field autoloader and builds it for the job of doing a little bit of everything. The heart of the gun is the Active Valve gas system, which self-adjusts to whatever you feed it, from light target loads to full-power 3 inch buckshot, cycling fast and soaking up recoil in the process. The 18.5 inch back-bored barrel keeps the gun quick through doorways, dense brush, and range obstacles, and the chrome-plated chamber and bore shrug off wear and make cleanup easier after a long day of shooting.
Winchester gave this one a sighting arrangement you rarely see on a shotgun at this level. Up front there is an LPA sight, paired with a ghost ring rear mounted on a Picatinny rail, so you get fast, rifle-like aiming out of the box and an easy path to a red dot if that is your preference. The synthetic pistol grip stock wears Woodland camouflage over the metalwork's Flat Dark Earth Cerakote, and the raised comb lines your eye up naturally with the ghost ring.
