Description
There's a reason the Maxus name keeps coming up in duck blinds. Browning built its reputation as one of the softest-shooting, most reliable gas guns out there, and the Maxus II Wicked Wing takes that platform and dresses it for the marsh. The Power Drive gas system is the heart of it, cycling everything from light field loads up to 3.5-inch magnum goose loads while soaking up a surprising amount of recoil along the way. Add the thick Inflex recoil pad and SoftFlex cheek piece, and a long morning of heavy steel shot won't leave you dreading the afternoon flight.
Built for the Blind: Wicked Wing Toughness
The Wicked Wing treatment is more than looks. The barrel and receiver wear Burnt Bronze Cerakote, which holds up to rain, mud, and boat-bottom abuse far better than traditional bluing. Inside, the bolt, bolt slide, shell carrier, bolt release, and bolt handle get a nickel Teflon coating for corrosion resistance and slick cycling, and the chamber and bore are chromed. The oversized bolt handle and bolt release are easy to run with cold or gloved hands, which matters more than you'd think on a January hunt. The Vintage Tan camo synthetic stock has a great throwback look and blends nicely into cattails and dead grass, with overmolded rubber grip panels on the stock and forearm that stay grippy when everything is soaked.
Maxus II Wicked Wing Handling and Fit
The 26-inch back-bored barrel keeps this gun quick to the shoulder and easy to swing in a cramped layout blind or flooded timber, and the flat vent rib with a fiber optic front and ivory mid bead gets your eye on target fast. Browning's Lightning trigger is crisp for an autoloader, and the stock can be trimmed for length of pull to dial in fit. Three extended Invector-Plus choke tubes in Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder cover everything from decoying ducks to passing geese, and the TurnKey magazine plug installs or removes in seconds when regulations change. If you want one autoloader to carry through the whole waterfowl season, this one earns its spot in the boat.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Maxus II Wicked Wing cycle light target loads or just heavy hunting loads?
The Power Drive gas system was designed to run reliably across a wide range of factory ammunition, from lighter field loads up to 3.5-inch magnums. Like most gas guns, give it a few boxes of shells to break in before expecting flawless cycling with the lightest target loads. Once it's settled in, it's one of the more forgiving autoloaders on ammo choice.
What's the difference between the Maxus II Wicked Wing and a standard Maxus II?
The Wicked Wing version is the waterfowl-focused build. It adds Burnt Bronze Cerakote on the barrel and receiver for better corrosion protection than bluing, nickel Teflon coated internals, an oversized bolt handle and bolt release for gloved hands, and extended Invector-Plus choke tubes. The core action and features are the same proven Maxus II platform.
Is the 26-inch barrel a good choice for waterfowl, or should I go with a 28?
The 26-inch barrel is a favorite for hunting out of layout blinds, boats, and flooded timber where a quicker-handling gun is a real advantage. A 28-inch barrel gives a slightly longer sight plane and smoother swing on long passing shots, but the difference is smaller than most people expect. Since the barrel is back-bored and takes Invector-Plus chokes, patterns are not the deciding factor here, handling is.
Can I adjust the fit of the Maxus II Wicked Wing stock?
Yes. Browning designed the Maxus II stock to be trimmed up to 3/4 inch to shorten the length of pull, which helps when wearing heavy waterfowl gear. Combined with the Inflex recoil pad and SoftFlex cheek piece, it's easy to get a comfortable, consistent mount.
