Piston ARs have a reputation for being front-heavy and bulky, and VKTR set out to fix that. The VK1 runs a patented short stroke piston system that matches the footprint and weight of a standard direct impingement rifle while keeping hot gas and carbon out of the receiver. This 13.7 inch version takes it a step further with a SOLGW NOX muzzle device pinned and welded to the barrel, bringing it to an even 16 inches and giving you a factory suppressor host that works with the Dead Air Sandman Keymount. The Magpul FDE Cerakote finish rounds it out with a look that stands apart from the usual wall of black rifles.
The self-regulating gas system cycles reliably suppressed or unsuppressed with no settings to fiddle with, and a staged gas bleed design slows the op rod at the end of its stroke for a smoother recoil impulse. The cold hammer forged heavy profile barrel carries a 1:7 twist and machined cooling flutes, while the one-piece chrome-finished bolt carrier eliminates the staked gas key that can work loose on traditional carriers. Both receivers are forged, which is where the FORGED in the name comes from, and the whole system was engineered to work together rather than pieced together from a parts bin.
VKTR didn't cut corners on the touch points. You get a Radian Raptor charging handle, a crisp single stage Hiperfire trigger breaking around 4.5 pounds, and a Magpul MOE SL stock with the K2 grip. Controls are fully ambidextrous, including a patented billet-machined magazine release and bolt catch, so left-handed shooters are covered without any aftermarket work. The free-float M-LOK handguard comes off with a single allen screw for quick access to the piston components when it's time for maintenance.

The SOLGW NOX is permanently attached to the 13.7 inch barrel, bringing the total barrel length to a full 16 inches. It also means your suppressor mount is already installed and rock solid from the factory.
