The charging handle works like it should, there's a functioning bolt catch and shell deflector, and the two-position safety sits right where your thumb expects it. That makes it a genuinely useful trainer, not just a plinker, though it happens to be a great plinker too.
This version comes factory-dressed in Magpul MOE SL gear, all in Flat Dark Earth against a matte black barrel and receiver. You get the six-position MOE SL stock, the slimmer MOE SL grip, and folding MBUS sights front and rear. The 10 inch M&P slim handguard carries M-LOK slots along its length, and S&W tosses in M-LOK Type 2 rail covers plus a 2 inch rail panel so you can bolt on lights, bipods, or Picatinny accessories without pulling the handguard. The full-length top rail is optic ready if you'd rather run a red dot.
The 16.5 inch carbon steel barrel wears S&W's Armornite finish for corrosion and wear resistance, with a 1:15 twist rate matched to .22 LR bullets. It's threaded and capped with a flash suppressor, which keeps the classic AR profile intact. The blowback action feeds from the included 25-round magazine, and at around 5 pounds the whole rifle is light enough for new or smaller-framed folks to handle comfortably all day.

Most external accessories work fine. Optics mount to the full-length top rail, M-LOK lights and bipods attach to the handguard, and standard slings and AR grips fit. Internal parts and magazines are specific to the 15-22 platform though, since this is a dedicated .22 LR design with polymer receivers rather than a converted AR-15.
Yes, the 16.5 inch carbon steel barrel is threaded and ships with a flash suppressor installed. That gives you the option to run muzzle devices down the road. The Armornite finish on the barrel also holds up well against corrosion and wear over high round counts.
This version comes upgraded from the factory with Magpul MOE SL furniture in Flat Dark Earth, including the six-position stock, slim-profile grip, and M-LOK rail covers. The standard Sport wears basic black furniture. Everything else, like the 16.5 inch barrel, MBUS sights, and 25-round magazine, carries over.
