Description

Most rimfire ARs look the part but feel like a compromise the second you pick them up. The Tippmann Arms M4-22 RedLine is a different animal. Tippmann teamed up with TandemKross, a name anyone in the rimfire competition world will recognize, to build a version of the proven M4-22 that comes upgraded straight out of the box. The red fluted 16 inch barrel and matching accents make it stand out on the rack, but the real story is what those parts do for you at the range.

What the RedLine Package Gets You

The barrel is machined from solid 4150 steel, fluted to shave weight, and finished in red Duracoat with 1/2×28 threading at the muzzle. TandemKross adds its Game Changer PRO compensator up front and the grippy hiveGrips on the pistol grip, both staples in the steel challenge crowd. A 9 inch free float M-LOK handguard, full length Picatinny top rail, and a set of flip-up front and rear sights round out the setup, so you can run it as-is or drop on a red dot and go. At just over 5 pounds, this thing swings between targets fast.

A Rimfire That Runs Like a Real M4

Unlike a lot of .22 ARs that only borrow the silhouette, the M4-22 is built with aluminum upper and lower receivers and keeps the genuine AR manual of arms. The bolt catch locks back on an empty mag, the forward assist and dust cover work, and the controls sit right where your thumb expects them. It is also largely mil-spec compatible, so most AR-15 stocks, grips, and sights will swap over if you like to tinker. The blowback action runs a nickel plated bolt, and the collapsible stock adjusts the overall length from 31.25 to 34.5 inches to fit different builds and shooting positions.

Why the M4-22 RedLine Earns Its Spot

Whether you are getting into rimfire matches, want a low cost trainer that mirrors your centerfire AR, or just want the most fun plinker at the range, the RedLine covers all three without needing a single upgrade. The 25 round magazine uses Tippmann's slide-down sleeve design that makes loading easy on the thumbs, which matters when you are burning through a brick of .22 on a Saturday.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will standard AR-15 parts and accessories fit the M4-22 RedLine?

For the most part, yes. The M4-22 is largely mil-spec compatible, so most AR-15 stocks, pistol grips, sights, and other furniture will swap right on. The handguard uses a proprietary barrel nut, so switching to an aluminum AR handguard requires a compatible nut from Tippmann. It is one of the closest rimfire ARs to a true centerfire setup you can buy.

Does the Tippmann M4-22 RedLine come with an optic?

This version (MPN A101111) ships without an optic, but it includes flip-up front and rear sights so you can shoot it right out of the box. The full length Picatinny rail makes adding a red dot or scope simple. Tippmann does offer a separate RedLine package that bundles a red dot if you want a complete setup.

Is the M4-22 RedLine a good trainer for a centerfire AR-15?

That is one of its biggest strengths. The controls, bolt catch, forward assist, and overall manual of arms mirror a real M4, and the bolt locks back on an empty magazine just like a centerfire AR. You get realistic reps on the fundamentals while paying rimfire prices for ammo, which makes it great for new shooters and seasoned AR owners alike.

Can I attach a suppressor to the M4-22 RedLine?

Yes. The 16 inch fluted barrel is threaded 1/2×28, which is the standard pitch for most .22 LR suppressors and muzzle devices. Just remove the TandemKross Game Changer PRO compensator and thread on your can. A quiet .22 AR with a 25 round magazine is about as much fun as a range day gets.
