The Winchester Model 1892 was one of John Browning's finest designs, a stronger and simpler evolution of the 1873 that went on to sell over a million units before production wrapped up in 1941. Taylor's & Company brings that classic back with this Chiappa-built reproduction, and they got the details right. The 24 inch octagon barrel wears a deep blued finish, the receiver shows off genuine color case hardening with those swirling blues and straw tones, and the straight-grip stock is real walnut with a traditional oil finish. Browning designed the '92 around twin vertical locking bolts, which is why this action has a reputation for being both slick and stout. The Model 1892 uses Browning's twin vertical locking bolt design, which made it noticeably stronger than the toggle-link 1873 it replaced. That said, always stick to ammunition loaded within standard SAAMI specifications for .45 Colt and follow the manufacturer's guidance in the manual. Standard loads are mild, pleasant to shoot, and exactly what this rifle was designed around.
