The GX4 Carry is what happened when Taurus took their award-winning micro-compact and gave folks the two things they kept asking for: more rounds and a rail. The result is a 9mm that holds 15+1 yet still measures just over an inch wide and weighs about 21.5 ounces empty. That puts it in the same capacity class as duty-size pistols while staying easy to tuck away, and that combination is exactly why this model has picked up such a strong following among everyday carriers.
TORO stands for Taurus Optics Ready Option, and it means the slide comes cut for direct mounting of red dots using the Holosun K-series footprint and similar patterns. No adapter plates to fuss with, just remove the cover, mount your dot, and go. If you prefer irons, the steel white dot front and serrated drift-adjustable rear get the job done fine, and they pair well with a dot as backups. Up front, the MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail accepts compact weapon lights, something earlier GX4 models simply could not do.
The grip texture on the GX4 line is one of its best traits, giving your hand plenty of purchase without chewing up your side during carry. Interchangeable backstraps let you dial the fit to your hand, and the indexing pads above the trigger guard give your support thumb and trigger finger a consistent home. The flat-face serrated trigger breaks predictably and makes fast follow-ups easier than you would expect from a gun this size.
The 3.7-inch stainless barrel wears a DLC coating for wear resistance, the mag release is reversible for lefties, and takedown is simple thanks to the easy takedown pin. Taurus ships this one with two 15-round magazines, so you can load one, stow one, and head straight to the range. The TORO cut accepts micro red dots that use the Holosun K-series footprint and similar patterns, so popular options like the Holosun 407K, 507K, and EPS Carry mount directly to the slide. There are no adapter plates required for compatible footprints. Just remove the cover plate, mount your optic, and confirm zero at the range.
The Carry version is a bit larger than the original GX4 and steps capacity up to 15+1 with its included 15-round magazines. It also adds a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny accessory rail for mounting a weapon light, which earlier GX4 pistols did not have. The longer 3.7-inch barrel and taller grip give you more to hold onto and a longer sight radius without sacrificing much concealability.
