Smith & Wesson's Performance Center crew tunes the action on this one to a crisp 3.5 to 4 pound trigger pull, and it shows the first time you press through it. The 4.25 inch stainless barrel is throated with a polished feed ramp so it feeds hollow points and ball ammo without complaint, and the precision crowned muzzle paired with a Briley spherical barrel bushing keeps lockup consistent shot after shot. The slide wears ported lightening cuts that shave weight and help tame muzzle rise, plus front and rear serrations for a solid grip during press checks and malfunction drills.
The frame features a rounded butt profile that tucks the grip in closer to the body and cuts down on printing, while still accepting standard full-size magazines. Custom G10 grips with wood-grain styling and 30 lines-per-inch checkering give you a grippy, weatherproof hold, and the ambidextrous thumb safety works for lefties and righties alike. White dot sights sit up top for a quick, clean sight picture, and the beavertail grip safety rounds out the classic 1911 control layout.

It's essentially custom shop work straight from the factory.
That's exactly what the throated barrel and polished feed ramp are there for. Those modifications smooth out the path from magazine to chamber so modern jacketed hollow points feed just as reliably as ball ammo. It's a common upgrade people pay gunsmiths for, and here it comes standard.
