Smith & Wesson took everything people wanted from the original Bodyguard 380 and rebuilt it from the ground up. The Bodyguard 2.0 swaps the old hammer-fired setup for a striker-fired system with a flat-face trigger, and the difference is night and day. You get a clean take-up, a crisp break, and a short reset that lets you run quick follow-up shots without fighting the gun. At 9.8 ounces unloaded and about 5.5 inches long, this thing carries lighter than most wallets, yet it holds 10+1 with the flush magazine or 12+1 with the included extended mag. That capacity in a pocket-sized .380 was almost unheard of before this pistol showed up.
The 2.75 inch stainless steel barrel and slide both wear an Armornite finish, which shrugs off sweat and holster wear better than plain stainless. Up top you get a bright dot front sight with a tritium insert paired with a fast black U-notch rear, so you have a usable sight picture in low light without adding bulk. Deep serrations front and rear give your hands plenty to grab when racking the slide, which matters on a slide this small.
The grip is where this pistol really separates itself from other micro .380s. The frame texture is aggressive enough to stay planted during recoil, and the 18 degree grip angle points naturally, so the sights come up where your eyes expect them. This version skips the manual thumb safety, keeping the manual of arms simple: draw, aim, press. The magazine release is reversible for lefties, too.

It is small enough to carry everywhere, holds more rounds than it has any right to, and shoots far better than its size suggests.
It ships with two magazines: a flush 10-rounder for maximum concealment and an extended 12-rounder that adds a little grip length. That gives you 10+1 or 12+1 of .380 ACP, which is impressive capacity for a pistol this small. Most guns in this size class top out at 6 or 7 rounds.
No, this is the no thumb safety model (part number 13927). It relies on internal safeties and a consistent trigger pull, so operation stays simple: draw and fire. Smith & Wesson does make a separate version with a manual thumb safety if you prefer one.
For its size, yes. The .380 ACP chambering keeps recoil manageable, and the textured grip and 18 degree grip angle help the pistol stay planted in your hand. The flat-face trigger is a big upgrade over the original Bodyguard, and plenty of owners find it shoots more accurately than they expected from a pocket gun.
