The SilencerCo ASR Muzzle Brake is a three port design that vents gas to fight felt recoil and muzzle climb, so your sight picture settles faster between shots. But the real reason most folks buy it is the second job it does: it is the host side of SilencerCo's Active Spring Retention system, which means your ASR compatible suppressor spins on and locks up with one hand, no wrench, no fuss. Same motion coming off. Once you get used to swapping a can between rifles this quickly, going back to direct thread feels like a chore.
This version is cut for 9/16×24 RH threads with a .30 caliber bore, and it plays nice with SilencerCo's Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie ASR mounts. That covers a long list of popular cans, including the Omega 300, Omega 36M, Hybrid 46, Saker ASR series, Chimera 300, Harvester line, Octane series, and Omega K series. One brake on each host rifle and a single suppressor covers your whole safe. When the can is off, the brake keeps working on its own, knocking down recoil on everything from range days to hunting season.
SilencerCo built this one on a titanium body with a black nitride treatment over the top, which trims weight off the muzzle and shrugs off corrosion and carbon fouling. At about 2.5 inches long, it will not turn your rifle into a boat anchor, and the subdued black finish blends in with just about any barrel.
Everything you need to do it right comes in the package. The included shim set lets you time the ports so gas vents where it should, and the tube of Rocksett locks the brake in place without permanent thread damage. Snug it up, check your alignment with a rod or alignment gauge before shooting suppressed, and you are set for the long haul.
It works with any SilencerCo suppressor that uses the ASR mounting system, including the Omega 300, Omega 36M, Hybrid 46, Saker ASR series, Chimera 300, Harvester, Octane, and Omega K series. It accepts the Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie ASR mounts, so one brake covers a wide range of cans. Just match the correct ASR mount to your specific suppressor model.
Absolutely, and plenty of people do. The three port design works as a standalone muzzle brake, venting gas to reduce felt recoil and muzzle climb. When you want to run quiet, your ASR compatible can threads right over the top with one hand.
This version has a .30 caliber bore, so it handles projectiles up to roughly .311 in diameter, which covers .308, .30-06, 300 Blackout, 7.62×39 and similar rounds. Anything larger will strike the device, so do not run it on bigger bores. SilencerCo makes the ASR brake in other thread and caliber combos if you need a different fit.
Use the included shim set to time the brake so the ports sit level, then apply the included Rocksett to secure it. Rocksett holds up to suppressor heat but releases with hot water soaking if you ever need to remove the brake. Before your first suppressed shots, verify alignment with an alignment rod or gauge to be safe.
