Savage built the Axis 2 Pro for hunters who want real out-of-the-box accuracy without the fuss. This 33308 model chambers the hard-hitting .400 Legend straight-wall cartridge, a round Winchester designed specifically for deer hunters chasing whitetails with heavy knockdown power and manageable recoil. With a maximum effective range around 300 yards on deer-sized game, it covers the kind of shots you'll realistically take in the timber or over a field edge.
The heart of this rifle is the user-adjustable AccuTrigger, which lets you dial in a crisp, clean pull that's genuinely rare at this price point. Savage pairs that with thread-in headspacing for repeatable accuracy, a 20-inch carbon steel barrel with spiral fluting to shed weight, and a threaded muzzle (11/16×24) so you can run a brake or suppressor. Both the barrel and receiver wear a durable Black Cerakote finish that stands up to rain, snow, and hard handling in the field.
There's no iron sights here, and that's by design. The receiver comes topped with a factory-installed one-piece 0 MOA Picatinny rail, so mounting a scope is quick and solid. The 1:16 twist rate is exactly what the big, short .400 Legend projectiles need to stabilize, so your groups stay tight from the bench to the stand.
The synthetic stock is wrapped in Mossy Oak Original Bottomland, a time-tested pattern that blends into flooded timber, brushy creek bottoms, and late-season cover. It features a contoured pistol grip with ambidextrous palm swells and enhanced texturing, so it stays put in cold, wet hands. Feeding comes from a detachable 4-round box magazine, giving you 4+1 on tap. For hunters in straight-wall country who want more thump than a .350 Legend delivers, this Axis 2 Pro hits the sweet spot between power, comfort, and value.
Yes. This model has a factory-threaded muzzle in the 11/16×24 pattern, so you can run a suppressor or muzzle device without any gunsmithing. The barrel and receiver are both finished in Black Cerakote for added durability.
It does not include a scope or iron sights. The rifle ships with a factory-installed one-piece 0 MOA Picatinny rail, so you just need to add your preferred optic and rings. That setup makes mounting glass quick and keeps everything aligned.
The .400 Legend is a straight-wall cartridge Winchester designed for deer hunting, delivering heavy knockdown power with moderate recoil. It's effective on deer-sized game out to around 300 yards and carries more energy than the .350 Legend. It's a strong pick for timber and field-edge hunting where straight-wall rounds shine.
This 33308 model is a right-hand bolt action with a 4+1 capacity fed by a detachable box magazine. Savage offers the Axis 2 Pro in other configurations, but this one is set up for right-handed shooters.
