The Mark IV 22/45 takes that proven rimfire platform and builds it on a polymer grip frame shaped like a 1911, so the grip angle, thumb safety, and control layout will feel familiar the moment you pick it up. If you already run a 1911 or just prefer that steeper grip angle, this is the Mark IV to grab. This model, 40107, wears a blued 5.5 inch bull barrel that puts weight out front where it helps, settling the sights and soaking up what little recoil .22 LR produces.
The cold hammer-forged bull barrel is threaded into a fixed tubular receiver, and the internal cylindrical bolt cycles inside it instead of a slide reciprocating on top. That means the sights never move relative to the bore, which is a big part of why these pistols have such a strong reputation for accuracy. The rear sight is adjustable, the front is a fixed ramp, and the receiver comes drilled and tapped so you can add a Weaver or Picatinny rail and mount a red dot when you are ready. No, Mark III magazines are not compatible with the Mark IV. You will want to stick with Mark IV 22/45 magazines, and note that standard Mark IV mags and 22/45 mags also differ in their baseplates. The good news is this pistol ships with two 10-round magazines, and factory spares are easy to find.
