Description

The LC Carbine is Ruger's answer to the question a lot of folks asked after the Ruger-5.7 pistol took off: why not a rifle that runs the same magazines? This one does exactly that, feeding 20-round Ruger-5.7 steel mags through the grip while a bolt-over-barrel layout keeps the whole package slim, balanced, and quick to the shoulder. At 5.9 pounds it carries like a 10/22 with a little extra heft, and the 5.7x28mm cartridge means recoil is soft enough that new and experienced folks alike can run drills without getting beat up.

What Makes the LC Carbine 5.7 Worth a Look

The 16.25 inch fluted barrel wears a black nitride finish for corrosion resistance and long-term durability, and it comes threaded 1/2"-28 with a thread protector installed, so muzzle brakes, flash hiders, and suppressors spin right on. The reversible side-folding stock adjusts for length of pull and drops overall length to a very packable size when folded, which makes this thing easy to stash in a truck bag or small case. Ruger Rapid Deploy folding sights come installed and adjust for windage and elevation, while the full-length Picatinny rail gives you plenty of real estate for a red dot or low-power optic. M-LOK slots along the handguard handle lights and accessories, and there's a QD sling socket included as well.

Controls That Feel Familiar

Ruger built this carbine around the same ergonomics as the 5.7 pistol, with a 1911-style ambidextrous manual safety, a reversible non-reciprocating charging handle, an easy-to-reach bolt release, and an extended magazine release. The Secure Action fire control system pairs a protected internal hammer with a bladed trigger that breaks clean and resets positively. Range reviewers consistently note how fast this platform runs on timed drills, and the flat-shooting 5.7 round holds its energy well past typical pistol-caliber carbine distances.

A Natural Companion to the Ruger-5.7 Pistol

If you already own the Ruger-5.7 pistol, this is about as easy a pairing as it gets, since one stack of magazines feeds both guns. Even on its own, the LC Carbine is a lightweight, low-recoil range rifle that earns a lot of trigger time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Ruger LC Carbine use the same magazines as the Ruger-5.7 pistol?

Yes, that's one of its biggest selling points. The LC Carbine feeds through the grip using the same 20-round steel magazines as the Ruger-5.7 pistol, so if you own both, one supply of mags covers everything. One 20-round magazine ships with the rifle.

Is the LC Carbine suppressor ready?

It is. The 16.25 inch fluted barrel is threaded 1/2"-28 and comes with a thread protector installed, so caliber-appropriate suppressors, muzzle brakes, and flash hiders attach without any extra parts. 5.7x28mm also suppresses nicely with the right ammo choice.

What is the recoil like on a 5.7×28 carbine?

Very mild. With standard 40 grain loads, felt recoil in this platform is often compared to a .22 LR or .22 Magnum, with almost no muzzle rise. That makes it a great pick for high-volume range days, newer marksmen, or anyone who wants fast, controllable follow-up shots.

Does the Ruger LC Carbine come with sights, or do I need an optic?

It ships ready to shoot with Ruger Rapid Deploy folding sights that adjust for windage and elevation. If you'd rather run a red dot or magnified optic, the full-length Picatinny rail gives you plenty of mounting room, and the factory sights fold down out of the way.
