Rost Martin is a Dallas, Texas-based company founded by a former Marine Corps officer and the daughter of Springfield Armory CEO Dennis Reese. For their first pistol, they set out to build a feature-rich, American-made compact 9mm at a price that doesn't require an apology. The RM1C is the result, and this OD Green bundle version takes it a step further by pairing the pistol with everything you need to run it right out of the gate.
The pistol itself is a striker-fired, polymer-framed compact sized right in the Glock 19 neighborhood. It carries 15+1 rounds with the flush magazine and steps up to 17+1 with the extended mag. The 4-inch hammer-forged barrel sits on a low bore axis that helps keep muzzle flip in check during rapid fire, and the Tenifer-treated nitrocarburized steel slide brings serious corrosion resistance and durability to the package. Slide serrations run front and rear for a positive grip during manipulations, and a flat row of anti-glare cuts along the top of the slide helps eliminate distracting reflections during target acquisition. The flat-face trigger breaks cleanly right around 5 pounds with a short, tactile reset that reviewers have compared favorably to the Walther PDP.
The ergonomics on this pistol are genuinely well thought out. Rost Martin's Responsive Grip Texturing, or RGT, is a proprietary graduated laser stippling that grips back harder the more pressure you apply, so it feels secure under stress without being sandpaper on your cover garment during carry. Modular backstraps let you dial in the fit for different hand sizes, and textured index points above the trigger guard on both sides of the frame give your support thumb something purposeful to land on. The trigger guard is oversized and deeply undercut, the beavertail is extended, and the magazine well is funneled for faster reloads. True ambidextrous slide and magazine releases make this one of the more left-hand-friendly pistols at any price point. The slide comes pre-mounted with a metal RMR-pattern optic plate, and additional footprint plates are available directly from Rost Martin. A full three-slot Picatinny rail on the frame handles lights and lasers.
This specific bundle is where the value proposition gets hard to argue with. Included is a Viridian RFX11 green dot reflex sight, a compact, sub-ounce optic with a crisp 3 MOA green reticle, Instant-On activation driven by an ambient light sensor, and a battery life rated at 30,000 hours on a single CR2032. The green dot is notably easier to pick up in bright daylight than a standard red dot for many people. You also get four total magazines and a Savior Specialist pistol bag to keep it all organized. After 1,500 rounds of varied ammunition in independent testing, the RM1C posted only two malfunctions not attributable to user error, which is a strong track record for any carry pistol. The RM1C is sized right in the same neighborhood as the Glock 19, with a 7.1-inch overall length and 5-inch height with the flush magazine inserted. Independent reviewers have noted it has a notably slimmer grip profile than the G19 while maintaining the same 15-round capacity. It's compact enough for concealed carry but substantial enough to shoot comfortably at the range.
The RM1C ships with steel Mec-Gar manufactured magazines branded with the Rost Martin logo. Rost Martin also confirms the pistol accepts standard CZ P10 magazines, which are widely available and affordable. The flush 15-round magazine sits flush with the grip, while the 17-round extended magazine adds a small amount of grip length.
The Viridian RFX11 is a compact green dot reflex sight weighing under half an ounce, with a crisp 3 MOA green dot and Instant-On activation via an ambient light sensor. Battery life is rated at 30,000 hours on a single CR2032, and the housing is IPX4-rated for water resistance. The green reticle is widely considered easier to see in bright daylight conditions compared to traditional red dot sights.
The RM1C ships with a metal two-screw RMR-pattern plate installed, which is compatible with the Trijicon RMR and SRO, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, Holosun 407C, 507C, 508T, 509T, EPS, and Swampfox Kingslayer and Justice series. Additional plates for other footprints including Docter and Shield patterns are available separately through Rost Martin's website.
In a documented 1,500-round endurance test by Guns.com using a wide variety of ammunition including steel-cased and defensive hollow points, the RM1C recorded only two malfunctions that could not be attributed to user error. Rost Martin also states that each pistol undergoes a 50,000-round test regimen during development. The pistol is backed by a Rost Martin lifetime warranty.
The RM1C does not have an external manual safety. It uses a standard striker-fired drop-safety tab integrated into the flat-face trigger, similar to what you would find on a Glock or Smith and Wesson M&P. The trigger itself breaks cleanly at approximately 5 pounds with a short, tactile reset.
