The .454 Casull has a reputation for a reason. It pushes heavy bullets fast, and packing that kind of punch into a lever gun this handy makes a lot of sense for anyone working close cover, following hounds, or wanting a truck gun with real authority. The Rossi R95 Triple Black wraps that big cartridge in a blacked-out package with a 16.5-inch barrel, a 7+1 tube magazine, and an overall length of just 35.5 inches, so it swings quick in tight timber and rides easy in a scabbard or behind the seat.
The Triple Black treatment is more than a paint job. You get a black Cerakote finish over the metalwork, a black-finished hardwood stock with a textured feel that grips well with gloves or wet hands, and a big loop lever wrapped in paracord that cycles comfortably even when you're running the gun hard. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24, so adding a suppressor or brake is a simple twist-on affair, and with a round this stout, plenty of owners appreciate having that option.
A rear peep sight paired with a drift-adjustable front gets you on target fast with irons, and the Picatinny rail on the receiver makes mounting a red dot or scout-style optic painless. The R95 platform draws from the proven Marlin 336 layout, meaning a solid-top receiver with side ejection that keeps brass clear of your optic and lends the action a familiar, dependable feel. A crossbolt safety and sling swivel studs round out the practical touches.
At around 6.7 pounds, the R95 Triple Black has enough heft to soak up recoil from full-house .454 loads without becoming a chore to carry all day. For hog hunters, bear country hikers, or anyone who wants a short, hard-hitting lever gun that plays nice with modern accessories, this one checks the boxes without straying too far from what makes a lever action great in the first place.
Yes. The 16.5-inch barrel comes threaded from the factory with a 5/8×24 pitch, which is a common standard for .45 caliber suppressors and muzzle devices. Just remove the thread protector and you're set to mount your can or brake.
Absolutely. The receiver comes with an integrated Picatinny rail, so red dots and scout scopes bolt right on with no drilling or gunsmithing. Since the R95 is based on the Marlin 336 layout, the solid-top receiver ejects brass out the side, keeping empties well clear of your optic.
This is a hunting and defensive woods gun at heart. The .454 Casull throws heavy bullets with serious energy, making it a strong pick for hogs, deer, and black bear at woods distances, as well as a trusted companion in big predator country. The compact 35.5-inch overall length also makes it a great candidate for a truck or cabin gun.
Full-power .454 loads have some bark to them, no way around it, but the roughly 6.7-pound weight and shoulder-fired platform tame it far better than a revolver in the same chambering. The paracord-wrapped lever and textured stock help you keep a solid hold, and a brake or suppressor on that threaded muzzle can knock the recoil and blast down further.
