Rost Martin is a Dallas, Texas-based company founded by husband-and-wife team Chris and Stefany Toomer, and the RM1C is their flagship pistol. It shows. This is a compact striker-fired 9mm built around a 4-inch hammer-forged, crowned match barrel sitting on a low bore axis, which translates to noticeably flat shooting and solid out-of-the-box accuracy. The Tenifer-treated nitrocarburized steel slide is tough, corrosion-resistant, and dressed with both front and rear cocking serrations that are wide and deep enough to actually be useful. The top of the slide is serrated to kill glare, and the whole package is sized right in that Glock 19 territory.
The ergonomics are a real strong suit here. Rost Martin's proprietary Responsive Grip Texturing (RGT) is a graduated laser stippling that gets more secure the harder you grip it, without being punishing on your hands during a long range session. Textured index points on both sides of the frame above the trigger guard give your thumbs a natural place to land, which helps with recoil management. The extended beavertail and undercut trigger guard let you ride the gun high on the frame. Three interchangeable backstraps are included so you can dial in the fit regardless of hand size.
Controls are fully ambidextrous, and we mean actually fully ambidextrous. Both the slide release and the magazine release are mirrored on the right side of the frame. No reversing anything, no swapping parts. The mag release is contoured so it's easy to hit on purpose and hard to hit by accident. Magazines drop free. The funneled mag well makes reloads fast and forgiving.
This is the Stone Gray OSP variant, which pairs the gray polymer frame with the black Tenifer slide for a clean two-tone look. The slide is optic-ready with an RMR-footprint cut and ships with a metal RMR mounting plate. The three-slot Picatinny rail up front handles most popular weapon lights. Backed by Rost Martin's lifetime warranty, the RM1C comes with one 15-round flush-fit magazine and one 17-round extended magazine, both steel-bodied and made by Mec-Gar.
The RM1C ships with a metal RMR-footprint plate installed, which opens it up to the Trijicon RMR and SRO, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, Holosun 407C, 507C, 508T, 509T, and EPS, and several Swampfox optics. Additional mounting plates for other popular footprints are available directly from Rost Martin. One thing to be aware of: the factory iron sights are not tall enough to co-witness with a mounted optic.
The RM1C ships with two Mec-Gar steel magazines (a 15-round flush-fit and a 17-round extended), and Rost Martin confirms the pistol also accepts standard CZ P10 magazines. Replacement factory RM1C magazines are reasonably priced and available through Rost Martin's website.
The RM1C is in the same size class as the Glock 19, with a 7.1-inch overall length, 5-inch height, and a notably slim 1.1-inch grip width. It actually runs a slimmer grip profile than the M&P9 Compact M2.0 while maintaining the same magazine capacity, which is a nice win for shooters with smaller hands or anyone prioritizing concealment.
Most pistols marketed as "ambidextrous" only offer a reversible magazine release that you have to disassemble the gun to swap. The RM1C runs truly mirrored controls on both sides of the frame, including both the slide release and the magazine release, right out of the box. That's genuinely useful whether you're a left-handed shooter or just training to run the gun with your support hand.
Yes, and this is one of the small but notable differences compared to Glock-style pistols. The RM1C uses a similar takedown lever system but does not require you to press the trigger to release the striker before removing the slide. Field stripping is tool-free and straightforward for anyone familiar with modern striker-fired pistols.
The Stone Gray OSP pairs a stone gray polymer frame with the standard black Tenifer-treated steel slide, giving the pistol a two-tone appearance. The OSP designation indicates the slide is optic-ready with the optic cut already machined and an RMR-footprint metal mounting plate included. It's the same full-featured RM1C platform, just with a different frame color.
