Duck blinds and flooded timber are hard on a shotgun, which is why the Pointer FT12 wears Flat Dark Earth Cerakote on the barrel and aluminum receiver and Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Blades camo on the synthetic stock. That combination blends into cattails and marsh grass while standing up to moisture, mud, and the general abuse that comes with a real season of hunting. Underneath the finish is a gas-operated action with a rotating bolt head that soaks up recoil and keeps follow-up shots quick when birds are cupped and coming in.
The 28 inch vent rib barrel gives you the smooth, deliberate swing that pass shooting and longer crossers call for, topped with a fiber optic front sight that stays visible in gray morning light. The 3 inch chamber handles everything from light target loads to heavy waterfowl shells, and a 5+1 capacity means you are not constantly feeding the magazine on a busy morning. Pointer includes five choke tubes with the gun, Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full, so you can pattern it tight for late-season geese or open it up for close flushes without buying anything extra. An oversized bolt handle is a small touch you will appreciate with cold or gloved hands, and the cross-bolt safety sits right where your trigger finger expects it.
The FT12 is part of the Field Tek line imported by Legacy Sports International, built in Turkey with an eye toward giving hunters a dependable gas gun without a premium price tag. It is the kind of shotgun you can hand to a new hunter, toss in the boat, or run hard through teal season and duck season back to back. Between the weatherproof finish, the versatile choke set, and the soft-cycling gas system, this is a 12 gauge that earns its keep from opening day to the last split.
It ships with five choke tubes: Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full. That covers everything from close-range flushes to tighter patterns for waterfowl at distance, so most hunters won't need to buy additional chokes to get started.
No, the FT12 has a 3 inch chamber. It will run 2.75 inch and 3 inch shells, which covers the vast majority of target, upland, and waterfowl loads. Just avoid 3.5 inch magnum shells in this gun.
Pointer shotguns are manufactured in Turkey and imported by Legacy Sports International out of Reno, Nevada. Legacy Sports has been bringing in value-priced shotguns and rifles for over two decades, and the Field Tek line is their workhorse semi-auto shotgun family.
That is exactly what it was built for. The Cerakote finish and synthetic Shadow Grass Blades stock handle wet, muddy conditions well, the gas system with rotating bolt head tames recoil from heavier duck and goose loads, and the 28 inch vent rib barrel swings nicely on passing birds. It is a solid pick for hunters who want a dependable gas gun without spending big.
