The whole design revolves around teaching good habits. This is a manually cocked single-shot action, so the rifle only fires when the bolt is cycled, a round is chambered, and the knob at the rear is deliberately pulled back. A rebounding firing pin stays blocked until the trigger is pulled, adding another layer of protection against an unintended discharge. One shot at a time also does something a magazine-fed rifle cannot: it makes every trigger press count, which builds patient, focused marksmanship instead of fast plinking habits.

Yes. The receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory, so it accepts Keystone's scope base or scope mount kit, both sold separately. Plenty of parents start their kids on the factory peep sights to learn sight alignment, then add a small rimfire scope down the road.
It is chambered for .22 LR and, being a single-shot, it will also chamber and fire .22 Short and .22 Long in standard or high velocity loads. That flexibility is handy for training, since quieter .22 Short loads are a gentle way to introduce brand-new shooters.
Gen 2 models like this one add the EZ Loader feed ramp, which guides the round into the chamber and makes loading much easier for small hands. They also come with swivel studs already installed so you can attach a sling right out of the box. The core action and safety design carry over from the original.
