Built around JK's Mission Configurable design, it uses a grade 5 titanium blast baffle up front and seven modular baffles machined from 7075 billet aluminum behind it. Add or remove baffles by hand, no special tools required, and you decide the length, weight, and sound reduction that fits the gun and the job.
Stripped down to its micro configuration, this can measures just 3.3 inches and weighs a feathery 3.6 ounces. Stack all eight baffles and you are still only at 8.7 inches and 11 ounces, which is remarkably light for something rated up to 300 Win Mag. That titanium blast baffle also earns the RPX 9 a full-auto rating on 9mm, so it is just as happy on a subgun or PCC as it is riding a bolt gun on a hunt. With a .36 caliber bore, it covers a huge spread of cartridges, from 32 ACP and 357 Mag on the pistol side to 5.56, 300 Blackout, 338 ARC, 308 Win, and 300 Win Mag on the rifle side, with minimum barrel lengths applying to some of the hotter loads.
The rear of the can is threaded in the industry-standard 1.375×24 HUB pattern, which opens the door to just about every popular mounting system out there, and JK includes an ASR-compatible taper mount already installed. Want to run it on a tilting-barrel pistol? Drop in a HUB piston and booster and you are set. The modular design pays off at cleaning time too, since the whole stack comes apart without a fight, and the black Type III hard anodize with Cerakote shrugs off field wear. Some rifle cartridges do carry minimum barrel length requirements, so check JK's ratings for your specific setup.
Yes, but tilting-barrel pistols like a Glock or M&P need a piston and booster assembly to cycle reliably, and that is sold separately for this model. The 1.375×24 HUB mount accepts common booster housings, so adding one is simple. Fixed-barrel hosts like PCCs and rifles can run it as it ships with the included taper mount.
