Description
IWI has been building combat-proven firearms since 1933, and the Masada is their take on the modern polymer striker-fired pistol. Rather than copying an existing design, IWI engineered this one from scratch, and it shows in the small details. The OD Green frame is made from high-strength, impact-resistant fiberglass-reinforced polymer and houses a modular serialized steel trigger housing that can be removed without tools, making disassembly and maintenance straightforward.
The optics-ready setup on the Masada is one of its biggest selling points. The slide comes pre-milled and ships with four adapter plates that cover the Trijicon RMR, Vortex Venom, Leupold Delta Point Pro, and Sig Romeo1 footprints. You are not paying extra for a milled slide or hunting for a separate mounting solution. The included fixed 3-dot sights give you a solid backup option if you prefer to run iron sights instead.
Ergonomics are a genuine strong suit here. The deep beavertail, aggressive grip texture, and three interchangeable wrap-around backstraps in small, medium, and large let you dial in the fit for your hand size. The low bore axis keeps muzzle rise manageable, and the large trigger guard makes it easy to run with gloves on. Both the slide stop and magazine release are fully ambidextrous from the factory, which is a feature that typically costs extra on competing platforms. The trigger breaks at around 6 pounds with a clean reset and a built-in blade safety.
The integrated Picatinny rail up front gives you a mounting point for a weapon light or laser, rounding out a package that works well for home defense, range use, or duty carry. Two 17-round magazines are included.

Frequently Asked Questions
What optics are compatible with the IWI Masada optics-ready slide?
The Masada ships with four adapter plates that fit the Trijicon RMR, Vortex Venom, Leupold Delta Point Pro, and Sig Romeo1 footprints. The plates and mounting screws are included in the box, so you can mount any of those optics directly to the slide without buying additional hardware. If you want to run iron sights, the factory 3-dot sights are already installed and ready to go.
Does the IWI Masada have a manual thumb safety?
No, the Masada does not have a traditional external thumb safety. It relies on a built-in trigger blade safety, similar to what you find on a Glock or most other modern duty-oriented striker-fired pistols. The trigger will not release unless it is deliberately pulled, which is a design philosophy shared by most service pistols in this category.
How does the Masada handle recoil compared to similar full-size 9mm pistols?
The Masada's low bore axis keeps the slide close to the hand, which translates to a flatter, more controlled recoil impulse during fast strings of fire. Combined with the aggressive grip texture and deep beavertail, most people find follow-up shots quick and easy to manage. Reviewers consistently describe it as a flat shooter for a polymer-frame 9mm.
Is the IWI Masada a good fit for home defense or duty carry?
It is well-suited for both. The 17+1 capacity, full-size grip, optics-ready slide, and integrated Picatinny rail for a weapon light make it a very capable home defense option right out of the box. For duty or range use, the fully ambidextrous controls and interchangeable backstraps cover a wide range of users and shooting styles. It is a full-size pistol, so deep concealed carry is not its strongest role, but it works fine for OWB carry.
Are the Masada's controls truly ambidextrous?
Yes. Both the slide stop lever and magazine release are fully ambidextrous from the factory, which is not always standard on pistols in this price range. Left-handed shooters can operate every control without any modifications or aftermarket parts.
Can I adjust the grip to fit my hand size?
Yes. The Masada includes three wrap-around backstraps in small, medium, and large sizes. Swapping them is straightforward and lets you customize the feel of the grip without any tools. The deep beavertail design also helps with hand placement and reduces muzzle flip regardless of which backstrap you run.
