Tanfoglio has been building serious pistols out of Gardone Val Trompia, Italy for decades, and the Force Duty Tactical is a clear example of what the brand does well: taking a proven platform and adding purposeful upgrades without turning it into something gimmicky. Built on the CZ 75-derived Force Duty foundation, this 9mm adds a factory 4.9" threaded barrel with 1/2×28 TPI threading, tactical grips with an integrated magwell, an XL base pad on the included 20-round magazine, and the OR Flexi optics system for red dot or standard sight configurations. The result is a genuine, out-of-the-box tactical handgun that does not require a shopping list of aftermarket parts before it is useful.
The optics-ready setup on this pistol is worth understanding before you buy. Tanfoglio's OR Flexi System lets you configure the slide with fixed sights, adjustable sights, the Rapid Sight (which supports RSMC-compatible red dot mounting), or a Multidot plate. Like other DA/SA hammer-fired pistols, the first shot is fired in double-action mode, meaning the trigger both cocks and releases the hammer in one long pull. Every subsequent shot fires in single-action mode with a shorter, lighter pull since the cycling action keeps the hammer cocked. You can also manually cock the hammer for a single-action first shot, or decock it using the thumb safety for a safe, double-action carry condition.
Holster compatibility for the Force Duty Tactical is still catching up to availability. Because the Force Duty platform is based on the CZ 75 architecture, some CZ 75-compatible holsters may fit with minor adjustments, but the threaded barrel and optics-ready slide can complicate fitment.
