The VP9 has been one of H&K's most respected striker-fired platforms since its debut, and the VP9A1 K takes that foundation and evolves it in all the right places. The "K" designation marks the first genuine compact offering in the VP9A1 series, sitting between the full-size VP9A1 F and the subcompact VP9SK. With a 4.09" barrel, 7.32" overall length, and a height of just 5.12", it carries more like a compact should while still giving you a grip that's worth holding onto. Weight unloaded comes in at 22.57 oz, keeping it manageable all day. This CA-configured version ships with two 10-round magazines.
H&K made meaningful changes with the A1 series. The finger grooves from the older VP9 are gone, replaced by a smooth front strap and a new modular grip system that allows up to 45 different configurations using interchangeable backstraps and side panels. That includes length-of-pull adjustments, which is something you don't see on most polymer pistols at any price point. The trigger got upgraded too: a nickel-Teflon coated trigger bar brings a smoother pull and a cleaner break, with a short, positive reset that makes accurate follow-up shots easy to manage. The slide picks up front and rear maritime-style serrations, and the magwell is flared from the factory for faster reloads. Ambidextrous controls throughout mean the pistol works equally well from either hand without modifications.
The Holosun SCS (Solar Charging Sight) is purpose-built for the VP9 optics-ready slide, mounting directly without adapter plates and sitting low enough to co-witness with the factory night sights. That tritium front sight isn't just a backup either; it's a legitimate low-light aiming solution on its own. The SCS runs on solar charging with an internal rechargeable battery rated up to 20,000 hours of reserve runtime, which in practice means most users will never need to think about a battery. It offers a multi-reticle system with a 2 MOA dot, 32 MOA circle, or both combined, and a brightness override mode locks it at max output for 30 minutes when conditions demand it. The housing is IP67 waterproof rated and built to handle 5000G of shock. It's a well-matched optic for a pistol at this level.
The VP9A1 K fills a gap that never existed in the VP9 lineup before the A1 series. It's a true compact with a 4.09" barrel and shortened grip frame, placing it between the subcompact VP9SK and the full-size VP9A1 F. You get more barrel and grip real estate than the SK, but in a smaller package than the F. Think of it as the VP9 equivalent of a Glock 19 slot in H&K's lineup.
