Description

Some rifles are built to sit in a rack and some are built to be shot. The Henry Silver Eagle manages to be both. The design pays tribute to the silver plated, engraved Serial Number 9 Henry rifle presented to Gideon Welles, Lincoln's Secretary of the Navy, and Henry recreated that scrollwork from original photos and drawings of the Welles gun. The engraving pattern covers both sides of the nickel plated receiver, and it catches light in a way that photos never quite do justice. Add the silver barrel band and buttplate against a rich American walnut stock and blued octagon barrel, and you have a rifle that draws a crowd at the range every single time.

A Silver Eagle That Earns Its Keep in .22 Magnum

This is the .22 WMR version, model H004SEM, and the magnum chambering turns a pretty rifle into a legitimately useful one. With flatter trajectory and considerably more punch than .22 LR, it handles small game and varmints out to distances where a standard rimfire starts to run out of steam. The tubular magazine holds 12 rounds, the 20.5 inch octagon barrel wears a target crown and a 1:16 twist, and the whole package comes in at 6.75 pounds with a 39 inch overall length. Easy to carry all day, easy to swing on a moving cottontail.

Golden Boy DNA, Buttery Lever Throw

Underneath the fancy dress, this is Henry's Golden Boy action, which means the lever cycles with that slick, short effort Henry rimfires are known for. Sights are a brass bead up front and a fully adjustable semi-buckhorn rear with a white diamond insert, a classic setup that works well for most eyes. If you want glass, the receiver comes drilled and tapped for a scope mount, so an optic goes on without gunsmith work.

Why the Henry H004SEM Sticks Around

Made in the USA and backed by Henry's well-earned reputation for fit and finish, the Silver Eagle is one of those rifles that gets handed down rather than traded in. Plinker, small game rig, heirloom piece, it wears all three hats without breaking a sweat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mount a scope on the Henry Silver Eagle?

Yes. The receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory, so all you need is a compatible scope mount and rings. Plenty of owners run a low power scope for squirrel hunting, but the adjustable semi-buckhorn and brass bead irons are very usable on their own.

Will the Silver Eagle 22 Mag also shoot .22 LR?

No, this model is chambered strictly for .22 WMR, also called .22 Magnum. The two cartridges are not interchangeable since .22 WMR uses a larger case. If you want a .22 LR version, Henry offers the Silver Eagle in that chambering as a separate model.

How does the Silver Eagle differ from the Henry Golden Boy?

Mechanically they are the same rifle, since the Silver Eagle is built on the Golden Boy platform. The difference is the finish package: the Silver Eagle wears a nickel plated receiver with a hand-cut engraving pattern modeled after the historic Serial Number 9 Henry rifle, plus a silver buttplate and barrel band, where the Golden Boy uses Henry's brass-toned Brasslite receiver.

Is the .22 Magnum chambering good for hunting?

It is a solid step up from .22 LR for small game and varmints. The .22 WMR shoots flatter and hits harder, making it effective on rabbits, squirrels, and pests like groundhogs out past 100 yards with good shot placement. The 20.5 inch octagon barrel and 12+1 capacity make this a practical field rifle, not just a showpiece.
