Description

There's a reason the Henry H1 platform has earned a permanent spot in so many gun safes, and the Tracker Carbine in .22 WMR might be the most field-ready version of the bunch. Henry took their famously smooth lever action and dressed it for serious small game work: a 16.5 inch blued octagon barrel that keeps the whole package at a handy 34.5 inches overall, a Skinner peep rear sight matched with a brass bead front, and a large loop lever that runs easy even with gloves on. At right around 6 pounds, it carries all day without complaint.

Why the Tracker Carbine Wears a Peep Sight

The Skinner peep is the standout upgrade here. Compared to a standard buckhorn, a peep sight gives you a longer sight radius in practice and a much faster, more natural sight picture. Your eye centers the bead automatically, which pays off on squirrels tucked against bark or a rabbit that won't sit still. And if glass is more your speed, the receiver is grooved for 3/8 inch rimfire rings, so adding a scope takes a few minutes and a set of ringmounts.

The .22 WMR Advantage

Chambering this carbine in .22 Magnum stretches its usefulness well past what a standard .22 can do. You get noticeably flatter trajectory and more energy on target, which matters when the shot is 100 yards instead of 40, or when the quarry is a raccoon or fox instead of a cottontail. The 10 round tube magazine feeds through Henry's simple removable inner tube, and the 1:16 twist barrel wrings good accuracy out of most factory magnum loads.

American Walnut, American Made

The straight grip American walnut stock gives this carbine the look and feel of a proper traditional lever gun, with a 14 inch length of pull that fits most adults comfortably. Like every Henry, it's built in the USA and backed by a company known for standing behind its rifles. This is the kind of gun that ends up being the favorite in the truck, on the trapline, and at the range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mount a scope on the Henry Tracker Carbine 22 WMR?

Yes. The receiver is grooved for standard 3/8 inch rimfire scope rings, so mounting a scope is quick and doesn't require any drilling or tapping. Just pick up a set of ringmounts made for a 3/8 inch groove and you're set. That said, the Skinner peep rear and brass bead front are a big step up from typical open sights, so give them a try first.

Will this rifle also shoot .22 LR ammunition?

No. The H001TRP-22M is chambered specifically for .22 WMR (.22 Magnum) and should only be fed that cartridge. The .22 WMR case is longer and larger in diameter than .22 LR, so the rounds are not interchangeable. If you want a .22 S/L/LR version, Henry offers the Tracker in that chambering as a separate model.

How does the tube magazine load on the Tracker Carbine?

Like most Henry rimfire lever actions, it uses a tubular magazine under the barrel with a removable brass inner tube. You pull the inner tube partway out, drop rounds into the loading port, then reinsert the tube. It holds 10 rounds of .22 WMR and makes unloading simple since you can pull the tube rather than cycling every round through the action.

What makes the Tracker different from Henry's standard Frontier model?

The big differences are the sights and the lever. The Tracker swaps the traditional semi-buckhorn rear sight for a Skinner peep, which gives a faster and more precise sight picture for hunting, and it wears a large loop lever that's easier to run with gloved hands. This 16.5 inch carbine version also keeps things compact and quick-pointing in thick cover.
