The Griffin Armament CAM-LOK Barrel Adapter is the barrel-side half of Griffin's two-part universal piston system, threaded here in 9/16×24. It threads onto your host pistol and gives your suppressor a quick-detach home instead of relying on a legacy single-piece piston that gets hand-tightened and works itself loose as the slide cycles. If you've ever pulled a can off a Browning-style pistol and found the piston backed off, this is the fix. The adapter also doubles as a thread protector for your barrel when the can is off, which is a nice bonus on threaded barrels that would otherwise sit exposed.
The design uses three mounting positions spaced 120 degrees apart, so you can index and lock your suppressor fast without fighting for alignment. A forward taper surface mates with the interfacing piston and clamps things down tight, which drastically cuts down on the baffle and end cap strikes that plague sloppier mounts. The coarse threads are top cut to hold up to wear over time, and there's a 3/4-inch (19mm) wrench pattern so you can seat it with a socket and prevailing torque rather than just knuckle power.
Because the piston lives in the suppressor and mounts to this adapter, you're not locked into one thread pitch. Run the same can on your 9mm one day and a different host the next by simply putting the right adapter on each barrel, no tearing down the suppressor to swap pistons. That interchangeability is the whole point of the system and it saves a ton of fumbling at the range.
Built from 17-4 stainless steel with a QPQ Nitride finish, this adapter shrugs off the heat and abuse of pistol suppressor use while keeping a clean black look. Total system weight comes out about the same as a legacy direct-thread piston, so you're gaining speed and security without adding bulk. No, this product is just the barrel adapter, which is the smaller black component that threads onto your pistol. The matching CAM-LOK Universal QD piston that installs inside your suppressor is sold separately. You'll need both halves of the system to mount a can.
This adapter is designed for Browning-style tilt-barrel pistols with a 9/16×24 threaded barrel. That thread pitch is common on larger caliber threaded barrels, so double-check your barrel's threads before ordering. Griffin offers other thread pitches if 9/16×24 isn't a match for your host.
Traditional single-piece direct-thread pistons are hand-tightened and tend to back off as the slide cycles during firing.
