Anyone who has run a can on a tilt-barrel pistol knows the drill with standard direct thread pistons. You hand tighten them, shoot a magazine or two, and check again because slide cycling works them loose. Griffin Armament built the CAM-LOK system to fix that, and this 1/2×28 barrel adapter is the half of that system that lives on your pistol. It threads onto any 1/2×28 barrel in 9mm or smaller, and pairs with Griffin's Universal QD pistons (sold separately) to give you a genuinely fast, repeatable quick-detach mount for Browning-style actions.
The forward taper surface is the heart of the design. When the interfacing piston cams into place, that taper wedges tight and holds concentric even while the piston reciprocates during the firing cycle. That drastically cuts down on the alignment drift that causes baffle and end cap strikes with loosened direct thread pistons. There are three mounting positions spaced 120 degrees apart, so you can attach or detach the suppressor quickly without hunting for the right index point, and there are no false-positive positions to slow you down. Griffin holds the interface geometry to tight standards for squareness and concentricity, so point of impact shift stays minimal and consistent across all three positions.
The adapter is machined from 17-4 stainless steel with a QPQ Nitride finish, so it shrugs off carbon, heat, and wear. The coarse threads are top cut for durability, and the 3/4 inch (19mm) wrench flats accept a standard socket, meaning you can torque it properly instead of relying on finger tight. Total system weight ends up the same as a legacy direct thread piston, so you are not adding bulk to get the upgrade. The internal bore also helps tame side concussion and visual disturbance compared to a blind muzzle. If you already run a Griffin piston-driven suppressor, this adapter also supports the Universal Carry Comp, which makes it an easy building block for whatever direction your pistol setup goes next.
No, this listing is for the barrel adapter only, which is the smaller component that threads onto your pistol barrel. The CAM-LOK system is a two-part setup, so you will need a Griffin Universal QD piston or CAM-LOK direct thread adapter to complete the interface. Both are sold separately.
It fits threaded barrels with a 1/2×28 thread pitch in 9mm (.355) or smaller calibers, which covers a lot of common threaded 9mm pistol barrels. It is designed for Browning-style tilt-barrel actions where a booster piston is needed for reliable cycling.
Single-piece direct thread pistons are hand tightened, and slide cycling tends to walk them loose over a range session. The CAM-LOK adapter accepts a 3/4 inch or 19mm socket so it can be installed with real torque, and its forward taper locks against the interfacing piston to keep everything tight and concentric. That reduces the alignment drift that leads to baffle and end cap strikes.
Griffin machines the interface to tight tolerances for squareness and concentricity, so all three of the 120-degree mounting positions produce similar and minimal POI influence. In practice, you can pull the can off and remount it without chasing your zero around the target.
