Description

Griffin Armament builds the MK1 Patrol the way you'd expect from a company founded by two combat veteran snipers: no gimmicks, just a carbine that's ready to work straight out of the box. This version wears Warhawk Green anodized receivers and handguard over a black 14.5 inch barrel with the muzzle device pinned and welded to hit an overall 16 inch length, so you get that shorter, quicker-handling profile without any extra hoops. And since the pinned device is a Griffin taper mount, you're already set up to run one of their suppressors down the road.

A Barrel Built for the Long Haul

The 416R stainless HEDP barrel is one of the biggest reasons to pick the MK1 Patrol over a run-of-the-mill AR. Griffin ran one of these barrels past 47,000 rounds, all of it suppressed, and retired it for extension lug wear rather than shot-out rifling. The .223 Wylde chamber splits the difference between 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington spec, so it feeds both while squeezing out better accuracy than a standard 5.56 chamber, and these barrels routinely print around 1 MOA with good ammo.

Tuned Gas System, Suppressor-Ready from Day One

The mid-length gas system is tuned to work with a suppressor-optimized buffer setup, which keeps the recoil impulse soft and the cycling reliable whether you're running a can or shooting it bare. That's a detail a lot of factory rifles get wrong, and it makes a real difference in gas blowback and follow-up speed once you add a silencer.

MK1 Patrol Details That Round It Out

Forged 7075-T6 upper and lower receivers wear Type 3 hardcoat anodizing, and Griffin's LOW-PRO M-LOK rail uses an anti-rotation tab that locks into the upper so the handguard stays put under torque from lights, lasers, or a hard grip. The Griffin ECS Extreme Condition stock and A3 grip finish it off, and an ambidextrous safety keeps controls workable from either shoulder. Made in Watertown, Wisconsin and backed by Griffin's lifetime repair-or-replace coverage, this is a patrol carbine you set up once and trust.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the MK1 Patrol have its muzzle device pinned and welded?

With a 14.5 inch barrel, Griffin permanently attaches the muzzle device at the factory to bring the rifle to a 16 inch overall barrel length. The upside is you get the handier balance and shorter sight radius of a 14.5 inch gun in a standard rifle configuration. Since the pinned device is a Griffin silencer mount, it also doubles as your suppressor attachment point.

Can I shoot 5.56 NATO through the 223 Wylde chamber?

Yes. The .223 Wylde chamber is designed to safely run both 5.56×45 NATO and .223 Remington. It gives you the pressure tolerance of a 5.56 chamber with tighter dimensions that tend to wring better accuracy out of both loads, which is why this barrel commonly shoots around 1 MOA.

Is the MK1 Patrol a good host for a suppressor?

It's one of the better factory hosts out there. Griffin tuned the mid-length gas system and buffer specifically to cycle smoothly suppressed or unsuppressed, so you're not fighting excess gas blowback when you add a can. The pinned Griffin muzzle device is a taper mount, so compatible Griffin suppressors attach right to it.

How durable is the 416R stainless barrel on this rifle?

Extremely. Griffin documented one of these HEDP barrels going past 47,000 rounds fired entirely suppressed, and it was retired for barrel extension lug wear, not worn-out rifling. For most owners, that's more round count than the rifle will ever see, and Griffin backs the whole gun with lifetime repair-or-replace coverage.
