Glock took almost a decade between Gen5 and Gen6, and the wait paid off. This version of the G19 Gen6 adds the one thing suppressor fans have been asking Glock to build into the platform from the factory: a threaded 4.02 inch barrel, ready for a can or compensator right out of the case. No aftermarket barrel swap, no fitting, no guesswork. Thread on your muzzle device and go shoot.
The frame is where you feel the changes first. Glock built in a palm swell shaped around the average hand, added an extended thumb rest and a larger beavertail, and covered it all in the new RTF6 texture that grips without chewing up your side when you carry. The flat-faced trigger sits with reduced reach from the backstrap, and the break is cleaner than previous generations. Up top, the slide serrations are cut deeper and angled for better purchase, and an enlarged border around the slide stop keeps your thumb from riding it during recoil. Interchangeable backstraps let you fine tune the fit, and the controls are set up for ambidextrous use.
The Gen6 Optic Ready System replaces the old MOS setup entirely. Instead of stacking an adapter plate on top of the slide, the included plates let your red dot screw down directly into the slide itself, sitting lower with a more secure lockup. Popular footprints like the Trijicon RMR, DeltaPoint Pro, and Holosun K pattern are covered by the plates in the box.
Between the threaded muzzle, the accessory rail for a light, and the low-mounted dot, this pistol is set up to be a complete home defense or range package with very little extra work. It feeds from 10-round magazines for 10+1 on tap, and older double-stack G19 mags still run in the Gen6 frame. Same legendary Safe Action reliability, just a smarter, more capable pistol wrapped around it.

Unlike the old MOS plates, the ORS design lets the optic screw down into the slide itself, so it sits lower and locks up tighter. Most popular carry-sized dots will mount without hunting for extra hardware.
Yes. Older double-stack 9mm Glock magazines still function in the Gen6 frame, which is great news if you already have a drawer full of them. This particular model ships with 10-round magazines for a 10+1 total capacity. Keep in mind the reverse is not true for barrels, since older generation barrels do not fit the Gen6.
The threaded muzzle is designed for 9mm suppressors and compensators, and it wears a thread protector when nothing is attached. Before buying a muzzle device, confirm its thread pitch matches the barrel on this model so everything mates up cleanly. Beyond the muzzle, the frame also has an accessory rail up front for a light or laser.
If you plan to run a red dot or a suppressor, yes. The ORS mounting system is a genuine improvement over MOS, and this model saves you the cost of an aftermarket threaded barrel. Add the flat-faced trigger, reworked grip with palm swell, and deeper slide serrations, and it is the most refined G19 Glock has built.
