Weight is the whole story here. At 12.7 ounces, this titanium can hangs off the muzzle without wrecking the quick handling that makes a lever gun worth carrying in the first place. FPM builds the Tatonka from aerospace-grade titanium and stainless steel, pairing the light weight with the kind of toughness a hard-recoiling cartridge demands. It is full-auto rated too, which tells you plenty about the margin of strength built into it, because nobody is running a .45-70 on full auto. The baffle design is engineered to knock down muzzle blast on big, slow bullets, and .45-70 with the right loads is a genuinely pleasant suppressed experience since so much of it already sits below the speed of sound.

You can. Since it is rated for .45-70 and under, it will run on a wide range of rifle and pistol calibers below that threshold. The larger 46 caliber bore means a smaller round will not be quite as quiet as it would through a dedicated can, but for a one-suppressor solution that covers the big stuff, it is a smart trade.
It weighs 12.7 ounces, which is impressively light for a can built to eat .45-70. The titanium construction keeps it from making a trim lever action feel muzzle-heavy, so your rifle still carries and swings the way it should in the field.
Surprisingly well. A lot of .45-70 loads run at or below the speed of sound, so there is little or no supersonic crack to deal with, just the muzzle blast the can is knocking down. Pair the Tatonka with slower loads and a .45-70 becomes one of the more pleasant suppressed rifle setups you can shoot.
