The SOCOM556-MINI2 is what happens when SureFire takes the suppressor that won the USSOCOM trials and trims it down for rifles where every inch of length matters. At just 5 inches long and around 14.5 ounces, this Gen 2 Mini gives up very little to its full-size RC2 big brother, coming in over an inch shorter and a couple ounces lighter while keeping the same duty-grade guts. The Dark Earth finish looks right at home on an FDE build and holds up to real use.
Construction is where SureFire earns its reputation. The MINI2 uses high-temperature Inconel baffles inside a heat-treated stainless steel tube, all joined with precision CNC laser welding. That combination is what makes this can full-auto rated and why these suppressors have served with military and law enforcement units around the world. The internal venting design is a big deal too. It cuts back pressure, gas blowback, and cyclic rate compared to sealed designs, so you get less gas in your face and a cleaner-running rifle. First-round flash is nearly eliminated thanks to the front-plate design, and sound and dust signatures both drop noticeably.

No, the suppressor ships on its own. It mounts to SureFire's SOCOM-series muzzle devices, including their flash hiders, muzzle brakes, and WARCOMP models, which are sold separately. Plan on picking up one mount for each rifle you want to run the can on.
SureFire optimized this can for 5.56 barrels 14.5 inches and longer, with a minimum barrel length of 10.5 inches. If you're running something shorter than 10.5 inches, SureFire points you toward their SB2 model instead. On a 14.5 or 16 inch AR, this is right in its sweet spot.
The MINI2 is about 1.2 inches shorter and roughly 2.5 ounces lighter than the RC2 while using the same Inconel and stainless construction. You give up a little sound suppression for the smaller package, but flash reduction, durability, and the low back pressure design carry over. It's the pick when overall rifle length is your priority.
