Plenty of rifles claim to be mountain guns. The Fierce MTN Reaper backs it up with the materials list. Fierce trimmed weight everywhere it matters, using a titanium two-lug action, an ultra-light magnesium chassis, a carbon fiber buttstock and M-LOK handguard, and their C3 carbon fiber wrapped barrel. The result is a folding chassis rifle that comes in around 5.8 pounds in this short-action 18-inch configuration, which is remarkable territory for a gun that also carries a half-MOA accuracy guarantee at 100 yards.
The .308 Win chambering with an 18-inch barrel makes a lot of sense for backcountry work. It is a proven, easy-to-find cartridge, and the shorter barrel keeps the rifle maneuverable in timber and on horseback while pairing nicely with a suppressor on the 5/8×24 threaded muzzle. Fierce ships it with their NIX muzzle brake installed, which does a fine job taking the edge off recoil in a rifle this light. The match-grade, hand-lapped barrel wears a Distressed Grey Cerakote finish that shrugs off weather and looks sharp doing it.
The folding stock locks up solid and collapses at the push of a button, protecting the bolt handle and shortening the whole package for strapping to a pack. You also get an adjustable cheekpiece, an ergonomic pistol grip with a thumb shelf, a spiral-fluted bolt with a smooth 70-degree throw, and a detachable box magazine feeding 4+1 rounds of .308. The crisp, user-adjustable TriggerTech trigger breaks clean and lets you dial the pull weight to your preference.
This is a rifle for the hunter who glasses from one ridge and shoots across to the next, then has to hike out with everything on their back. Top it with a quality scope on the included bases, find the load it likes, and the MTN Reaper will hold up its end of the deal season after season.
The short-action 18-inch configuration is the lightest in the MTN Reaper lineup at roughly 5.8 pounds. That figure comes from the titanium action, magnesium chassis, carbon fiber stock and handguard, and the carbon fiber wrapped barrel. For a folding chassis rifle with an accuracy guarantee, that weight is hard to beat.
Yes. The barrel is threaded 5/8×24 and ships with the NIX muzzle brake installed, so you can run the brake or swap on a suppressor of your choice. Many owners hunting with this rifle go the suppressor route since the light overall weight leaves room in the pack budget for a can.
It does. The carbon fiber stock folds and locks with a push-button mechanism, which shortens the rifle for strapping to a pack and protects the bolt handle during the hike in. It also includes an adjustable cheekpiece so you can get a proper cheek weld behind your scope.
Fierce backs the Reaper line with a 0.5 MOA guarantee at 100 yards, which is a strong promise for a hunting rifle this light. The hand-lapped, match-grade C3 carbon barrel and full-length chassis bedding do the heavy lifting there. As with any precision rifle, spend a little time finding the factory load or handload it prefers and it will reward you.
