The Derya Melik takes its name seriously. In Turkish, Melik means king, and the Silver/Gold version of this full-size 9mm certainly carries itself like one. The polished nickel aluminum frame is paired with a gold TiN-treated barrel that gives the gun a two-toned, almost ceremonial look, but underneath the finish this is a proper working pistol. Derya machines the frame from a solid block of 7075 aluminum, and the slide is forged 4140 steel with a Melonite finish, so the bones are serious even if the looks are striking. The barrel is also 4140 steel, heat treated, crack inspected, and machined in-house at the Derya facility in Turkiye.
The Melik runs a traditional double/single action system with a slide-mounted combined safety and decocker. First shot fires in double action with a longer, heavier pull, and every shot after that is single action, shorter and lighter. The decocker lever does double duty, and when left in the down position the pistol also goes on safe. It is a time-tested system that will feel familiar to anyone with experience on Beretta 92-style platforms, and the Melik shares enough dimensional DNA with the 92 that Beretta 92 magazines are generally compatible. The serrated steel slide offers a solid grip surface for press checks and one-handed manipulations, and the full-size 4.9-inch barrel gives you good muzzle velocity and a longer sight radius than most compact carry guns.
This particular variant is easy to spot in a lineup. The nickel-polished frame and gold TiN barrel are not just aesthetic choices, the TiN coating adds a layer of hardness and corrosion resistance to the barrel surface. Wood grips complete the classic look and add a comfortable, warm feel in the hand compared to standard polymer. Fixed sights keep things simple and snag-free. At 8.4 inches overall and around 2 lbs unloaded, the Melik sits squarely in full-size service pistol territory, which makes it well suited for home use, range work, or display in a collection that values distinctive pieces. Every Melik ships with a hard case, cleaning rod, and gun brush so you have what you need to get started right out of the box.
The magazine wells are dimensionally similar, and Beretta 92 magazines will generally fit and function in the Melik. Derya officially notes the magazine wells are compatible between the two platforms. That said, the internal parts and frame components are not interchangeable, so do not expect cross-compatibility beyond the magazine.
The Melik uses a slide-mounted lever that combines the decocker and safety functions into a single control. Pressing it down safely lowers the hammer from a cocked position, transitioning the trigger to a longer double-action pull for the next shot. When left in the down position, the lever also places the pistol on safe with the trigger disabled. This is the same basic setup used on Beretta 92-style pistols.
TiN stands for Titanium Nitride, a hard ceramic coating applied to the barrel surface. Beyond the unmistakable gold color, TiN adds surface hardness and a degree of corrosion resistance compared to an uncoated barrel. It is a finish you see on premium cutting tools and high-end firearm components for good reason.
It takes a bit of an adjustment if you are used to a consistent trigger pull from a striker-fired pistol. The first shot in double action is noticeably heavier and longer, while follow-up shots in single action are much lighter. With some dry-fire practice and range time, most people get comfortable with the transition quickly. The manual of arms is straightforward once you understand the decocker.
The Melik is manufactured in Türkiye at the Derya facility. The MPN suffix ".TR" on this model (MELIK9.NG.TR) confirms Turkish manufacture. Derya performs the Melonite finishing in-house and machines the 7075 aluminum frame from a solid block on-site.
