The Shadow 2 platform has dominated IPSC and USPSA Production Division competition for years, and the ACCU variant is the version that serious competitors reach for when they want factory-level custom work built in. Starting with the already excellent Shadow 2 chassis, CZ Custom fits their proprietary ACCU bushing to the barrel, which tightens the fit between barrel and slide at lockup. The result is a more consistent return to battery and tighter groups, especially when pushing the envelope at distance. It ships with a full trigger job as well, including a competition hammer, improved short-reset components, lighter mainspring, and reduced-power firing pin spring. The single-action-only trigger breaks cleanly with a short reset, and it shows.
The steel frame runs at 46.5 ounces, and while that sounds heavy on paper, it pays dividends at the range. The mass soaks up recoil and keeps the muzzle flat during rapid fire. Combined with the low bore axis that the CZ 75 lineage is famous for, where the slide rides inside the frame rails rather than on top of them, muzzle flip is noticeably reduced. The higher beavertail and undercut trigger guard let your hand sit as close to the bore as possible, which only adds to the controllability. Front and rear slide serrations give you positive purchase for press-checks or administrative cycling.
Sight setup is smart for competition: a bright fiber optic up front pairs with a fully adjustable rear for dialing in your zero and accommodating different ammunition loads. The ambidextrous manual safety works for both left- and right-handed shooters, and the mag release is extended with three position settings so you can configure it to your hand size and grip style. Two 17-round magazines are included.
The slide wears a nitride finish and the steel frame is coated in CZ's black polycoat, giving the pistol solid corrosion resistance without looking like it just rolled off an assembly line. The ACCU bushing fits between the barrel and the slide at the muzzle end, tightening the fit so the barrel returns to the same position in lockup with much less play than a standard factory bushing. This consistency in lockup translates to improved shot-to-shot accuracy, particularly noticeable at longer distances. It also holds the front sight in place within the slide, so no separate sight pin is required or should be installed.
The base Shadow 2 platform has been a dominant Production Division competitor for years, with CZ pistols making up a significant share of the top-level USPSA and IPSC Production field. Whether this specific ACCU configuration qualifies for your division is something to verify with current USPSA rules, since factory modifications can affect classification. Many competitors run ACCU-equipped CZs in Open or Limited divisions where the custom work is not a concern.
CZ Custom installs a full competition trigger package, which includes a competition hammer, an improved short-reset disconnector, a lighter 13-pound mainspring, an extended firing pin, and a reduced-power firing pin spring with an 11-pound recoil spring tuned for competition use. The result is a single-action-only trigger with a crisp, clean break and a very short reset that makes fast follow-up shots noticeably easier.
