Description

There is a good reason 300 Blackout and short-barreled ARs go together so well. The cartridge was engineered to burn its powder in a stubby barrel, so a 7.5 inch tube like the one on this CA-15 gives up far less velocity than a 5.56 gun of the same length. That makes this Combat Armory pistol a smart pick for anyone who wants a compact AR that still hits with authority, whether you are feeding it supersonic loads for the range or heavy subsonics behind a suppressor.

What Goes Into the CA-15 Pistol

Combat Armory builds this one on billet 7075-T6 upper and lower receivers with a Type III hard-coat anodized finish, and the parts inside are Mil-Spec throughout, from the fire control group to the forward assist, dust cover, and charging handle. The 7.5 inch barrel is 4140 chrome moly vanadium with a Melonite finish for corrosion resistance and long wear, an M4 profile, and M4 feed ramps for smooth feeding. A 1:7 twist rate stabilizes everything from light supersonic bullets to the 200-plus grain subsonic stuff, and the muzzle wears an A2 flash hider on 1/2×28 threads so swapping muzzle devices is simple. A pistol-length gas system with a .750 low profile gas block keeps it cycling reliably at this barrel length.

A Handguard Built for Accessories

The 7 inch free float M-LOK handguard on this version carries a full-length Picatinny rail up top, running unbroken from the receiver to the end of the guard. That gives you real estate for backup irons, a red dot, lights, or lasers without hunting for rail sections, and the M-LOK slots along the sides and bottom handle everything else. Free floating the barrel also helps accuracy since nothing hanging off the handguard puts pressure on it.

Feeding the CA-15 300 Blackout

One of the best parts of 300 Blackout is that it runs in standard AR-15 magazines, and this pistol ships with a single 10-round mag so it is ready to load and go. Add a brace or leave the pistol buffer tube as is, mount your optic, and you have a handy little blaster that is genuinely fun to run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Combat Armory CA-15 pistol come with a brace?

No, this model ships with a standard pistol buffer tube and no brace installed. That keeps the package simple and lets you set it up the way you want. If you prefer a brace, aftermarket options that fit a standard pistol tube are widely available and easy to install.

Will the CA-15 300 Blackout run subsonic ammo and a suppressor?

This is exactly the kind of setup 300 Blackout was designed for. The 1:7 twist barrel stabilizes heavy subsonic bullets, and the muzzle is threaded so you can remove the A2 flash hider and mount a suppressor or suppressor-ready device. As with any suppressed AR pistol, test your specific subsonic load for reliable cycling, since ammo varies quite a bit.

Does the CA-15 use standard AR-15 magazines?

Yes. 300 Blackout feeds from standard 5.56 AR-15 magazines, so all your existing mags will work. This pistol includes one 10-round magazine in the box. Just be careful to keep your 300 Blackout ammo clearly separated from 5.56 if you own both, since the rounds fit the same mags.

What is the difference between the Full Pic rail and the Slim rail version?

This version has a full-length Picatinny rail running along the top of the 7 inch free float handguard, connecting seamlessly with the receiver rail. That gives you continuous mounting space for iron sights, optics, and other rail-mounted gear. The slim version drops most of that top rail for a trimmer, lighter handguard with M-LOK slots doing the accessory work.
