The Banshee Mk3 takes the cartridge hunters and marksmen have trusted for over 70 years and folds it into a package right around 29.5 inches overall and 7.4 pounds. CMMG builds it on the LR-308/DPMS Gen 1 high-profile pattern, so you get genuine AR-10 class strength with the same manual of arms you already know from any AR platform gun you have run before.
The 12.5 inch barrel is 4140 chrome moly with a salt bath nitride finish and a 1:10 twist that stabilizes the full range of common .308 bullet weights. Up front, CMMG threads on their ZEROED linear compensator at the standard 5/8×24 pitch, which pushes blast and concussion forward instead of back at you. That matters more than you might think on a short-barreled .308, and it keeps this pistol far more pleasant on an indoor line than most guns in its class. Both receivers are billet 7075-T6 aluminum wearing a Cerakote Armor Black finish, and the whole thing cycles on a familiar direct impingement system.

No, this configuration ships with a standard pistol buffer tube rather than a brace. That keeps the package simple and leaves the rear end open for you to set up however you prefer. CMMG offers other Banshee configurations if you want something different from the factory.
You give up some velocity compared to a 16 or 20 inch barrel, but .308 still delivers serious energy from 12.5 inches, comfortably outclassing intermediate cartridges at closer ranges. This setup shines inside a few hundred yards for hogs, defense, and general range work. The ZEROED linear compensator also directs the extra muzzle blast forward, which makes it noticeably more comfortable to run than most short .308s.
It runs on SR-25/DPMS pattern .308 magazines, and CMMG includes a 20-round Magpul PMAG in the box. That pattern is the most common .308 AR magazine out there, so spares are easy to find and affordable. Both PMAGs and quality metal SR-25 pattern mags will feed it fine.
Yes, the barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard pitch for .30 caliber muzzle devices and suppressor mounts. Just remove the factory ZEROED linear compensator and install your can or mount of choice. A suppressed 12.5 inch .308 makes for a remarkably handy and pleasant setup.
