Canik teamed up with Taran Butler of Taran Tactical Innovations, the guy behind the guns in the John Wick films, and the TTI Combat is what happens when a world champion gets to design a production pistol from the frame up. This Smoke Edition wears a grey Smoke Cerakote slide over a bronze PVD barrel, and the look turns heads at the range every single time. But the finish is just the wrapping paper. Underneath is one of the flattest shooting striker-fired 9mms you can buy off the shelf.
The recoil management story here is the real draw. The 4.6-inch barrel is ported and spiral fluted, and Canik tops it with their Quick Attach Compensator, a first for the brand. Between the ports and the comp, muzzle rise drops off dramatically, so your dot or fiber optic front sight settles right back on target for fast follow-up shots. The slide is lightened with relief cuts and wrapped in aggressive front and rear serrations, and it runs a low-profile optics cut that handles the MeCanik line, the Trijicon SRO, and plenty of other popular red dots. Iron sight fans get a bright fiber optic front paired with a blacked-out adjustable rear.
Taran Butler designed the polymer frame himself, and it shows. You get grippy texturing where your hands need it, three backstrap sizes to dial in the fit, an integrated flared magwell plus a removable aluminum competition magwell for even faster reloads, and an ambidextrous serrated slide release. The flat-faced aluminum trigger breaks clean at 90 degrees with a crisp, short reset that makes running fast splits feel easy.
Canik does not skimp on the extras. Two 18-round magazines with TTI base pads, a +3 extension, a holster, optic plates, a tool kit, and a hard case all come standard, along with a TTI challenge coin. Whether you are chasing match wins or just want a range gun that feels like a custom build, this one delivers well beyond its price class.
The slide has a low-profile optics cut that works with Canik's MeCanik optics, the Trijicon SRO, and a wide range of other popular footprints using the included mounting plates. The cut sits low enough that most dots co-witness nicely with the factory irons. If you'd rather run irons, the fiber optic front and adjustable blacked-out rear are excellent on their own.
The Canik Quick Attach Compensator comes in the package and installs without gunsmithing, which is where the quick attach name comes from. It pairs with the ported, spiral-fluted barrel to keep muzzle rise to a minimum. You can run the pistol with or without it depending on your preference.
Absolutely. It was designed with match shooting in mind, but the reliability of Canik's striker-fired platform, the 18+1 capacity, and the soft-shooting comp setup make it a great range gun and home defense option too. The full-size frame and included holster cover most practical uses right out of the box.
Mechanically it's the same pistol Taran Butler helped design, with the ported bronze PVD barrel, flat-faced trigger, and flared magwell. The Smoke Edition swaps the original bronze slide for a grey Smoke Cerakote finish, giving it the signature TTI two-tone look. Everything else, including the loaded accessory package, carries over.
