Slug guns get a bad rap for beating up the person behind them, and that is exactly where the Silver Rifled Deer earns its keep. Browning built this one around their Active Valve gas system, which bleeds off gas to cycle the action and takes a real bite out of felt recoil in the process. Add the Inflex recoil pad on the back end and a 7 pound 12 ounce overall weight, and you have a 12 gauge slug gun you can practice with all afternoon without dreading the bench.
The 22 inch barrel is fully rifled with a 1 in 28 twist and thick walls made to handle the pressure of modern sabot loads. Feed it quality sabots and this gun will stretch your effective range well past what a smoothbore can manage. The 3 inch chamber gives you room to run heavier loads when the situation calls for it, and the chrome plated chamber cleans up easily after a season of shooting. Up top, the cantilever Weaver-style mount attaches your scope, red dot, or reflex sight directly to the barrel, so your zero stays put even when you pull the barrel for cleaning. There is also a brass bead out front if you want a simple backup reference.
Browning's OVIX Concealment camo covers the whole gun, stock, receiver, and barrel, so there is no shiny metal to catch a wary buck's eye. The composite stock and forearm shrug off rain and cold, and the textured gripping surfaces keep your hands planted when the weather turns ugly. The lightweight aluminum alloy receiver carries that classic Browning semi-humpback profile, and the phosphate coated bolt and bolt slide add durability where it counts. The fully rifled 1 in 28 twist barrel is designed for sabot slugs, and that is where you will see the best accuracy. Rifled Foster-style slugs will still fire, but they typically will not group nearly as well and can foul the rifling with lead. Try a few different sabot loads to find the one your barrel prefers, since individual guns often favor a specific brand and weight.
It ships with a brass bead front sight but no rear sight, so it is really set up to run an optic. The cantilever Weaver-style mount is attached to the barrel and accepts a scope, red dot, or reflex sight. Because the mount rides on the barrel rather than the receiver, your zero stays consistent even after removing the barrel for cleaning.

Yes, the chamber is 3 inches, so it will run both 2-3/4 inch and 3 inch slug loads. The magazine holds four 2-3/4 inch shells plus one in the chamber. For most deer hunting, quality 2-3/4 inch sabots deliver plenty of performance with less recoil, but the 3 inch option is there when you want extra punch.
