There's a reason the Maxus name keeps coming up when waterfowl hunters talk about gas guns. Browning took everything people loved about the original, cleaned up the lines, and added real improvements where it counts. The Wicked Wing version is the duck blind build: Burnt Bronze Cerakote over the receiver and barrel to shrug off freezing rain and boat rash, a Mossy Oak Bottomland composite stock, and rubber overmolded panels on the grip and forearm so the gun stays planted even with wet, muddy gloves.
The heart of the gun is Browning's Power Drive gas system, a long-stroke design with enlarged gas ports that cycles everything from light field loads to full 3.5 inch magnum goose loads without getting picky. That gas operation also soaks up a big chunk of recoil before it ever reaches your shoulder, and the thick Inflex recoil pad and SoftFlex cheek pad handle the rest. Shoot a case of heavy steel through this thing and you'll understand why gas gun fans don't switch. The chamber and bore are chrome plated, the bolt and carrier parts wear a nickel Teflon coating for corrosion resistance and easy cleanup, and the oversized bolt handle and bolt release are genuinely usable with winter gloves on.
The 28 inch back-bored vent rib barrel swings smooth on crossing birds and throws consistent patterns, with a red fiber optic front sight and ivory mid bead that show up fast against gray skies. Browning includes three extended Invector-Plus Goose Band choke tubes in Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder, so you're covered from decoying ducks to passing geese. The stock adjusts too, with shims for cast and drop, and the straight heel design lets a gunsmith trim up to 3/4 inch off the length of pull for a proper fit.
