Browning built its reputation on autoloaders that just plain run, and the Maxus II Stalker carries that torch. At the heart of it is the Power Drive gas system, which cycles a huge range of factory ammo, from light 2-3/4" field loads all the way up to 3-1/2" magnum goose loads, while bleeding off gas to soften recoil. Add in the Lightning Trigger, which has one of the fastest lock times you'll find on any semi-auto shotgun, and you get a gun that feels quick, crisp, and consistent shot after shot.
Browning stacked the recoil-fighting features on this one. A thick Inflex recoil pad and SoftFlex cheek piece work together to take the sting out of heavy waterfowl loads, and the trim composite stock wears rubber overmolded grip panels on the wrist and forearm so your hands stay planted in wet, cold conditions. The stock is also shim-adjustable for length of pull, cast, and drop, and the straight heel design means a gunsmith can trim it up to 3/4" for a truly custom fit. At right around 7 pounds, it carries easy on long walks but still swings smooth on crossing birds.
The Stalker treatment means a subdued matte blued 26" barrel and matte black aluminum alloy receiver with zero glare to spook wary geese. The chamber and bore are chrome-lined, and the bolt, bolt slide, shell carrier, and controls wear a nickel Teflon coating for corrosion resistance and slick cycling. Oversized bolt handle and bolt release are easy to run with gloves on, and the ramped trigger guard makes topping off the magazine faster. Back-bored barrel dimensions and the Invector-Plus choke system round things out with three flush chokes included, so you're covered from decoying ducks to late-season passes.

Yes, this model (011700205) has a 3-1/2" chamber, so it will run everything from 2-3/4" target loads up to full magnum waterfowl and turkey loads. The Power Drive gas system is tuned to cycle that whole spectrum reliably, and the Inflex recoil pad plus SoftFlex cheek piece take a lot of the bite out of the heavy stuff.
It does. Browning includes three flush Invector-Plus chokes (Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder) plus an ABS-molded hard case for transport and storage. That covers most hunting situations right out of the box, and extended Invector-Plus chokes are widely available if you want something more specialized.
Yes, and this is one of the Maxus II's best upgrades over the original. Included shims let you adjust length of pull, cast, and drop to match your build, and the stock's straight heel section allows a gunsmith to trim it up to 3/4" and refit the recoil pad. That makes it easy to dial in a proper fit whether you shoot in a t-shirt or heavy winter layers.
It genuinely does both well. The no-glare matte finish, weather-resistant synthetic stock, and nickel Teflon-coated internals make it a natural fit for the duck blind, but its light weight, smooth swing, and soft-shooting gas system make it just as pleasant for upland hunting and clays. The oversized bolt handle and release are also easy to run with cold or gloved hands.
