Description

The Buck Mark has been one of the most respected rimfire pistols on the market since the mid-1980s, and the Contour Pro is the latest evolution of that legacy. This 4.4" version offers a more compact footprint than the longer-barreled models, which makes it quicker to swing and point while still retaining the fixed-barrel mechanical accuracy the Buck Mark platform is known for. The frame starts as a billet of aircraft-grade 7075 aluminum, CNC-machined to tight tolerances, so you're getting real structural integrity without unnecessary weight. The steel contour barrel is threaded 1/2×28 right from the factory and ships with a removable compensator that knocks down muzzle rise and helps you get back on target faster between shots.

Buck Mark Contour Pro Sights and Optics Setup

Browning put serious thought into the sighting system here. Up front you get a TRUGLO/Marble Arms green fiber optic, and out back the fully adjustable Pro-Target rear sight offers 16-click-per-revolution precision dialing so you can really fine-tune your zero. Two Picatinny rails, one running along the top of the receiver for a red dot or micro optic, and a second under the barrel for a light or laser, give you a lot of flexibility to run this gun exactly how you want it. The iron sights are co-witness capable, so adding a red dot doesn't mean abandoning your irons.

What Makes the Contour Pro Stand Apart from Other Buck Marks

The gray and black G10 grip panels are a step up from rubber overmolds, offering a consistent texture that doesn't compress or change feel session to session. The gold-plated single-action trigger has a clean, light break with minimal overtravel, and it's a genuine selling point of the Buck Mark family. The straight blowback action is simple and proven, and the fixed barrel-to-frame design aids inherent accuracy by keeping the bore in the same mechanical position shot after shot. CCI Mini-Mags and similar high-velocity loads tend to run it smoothly, and like any Buck Mark, it will reward regular cleaning to keep the chamber clear of .22 fouling. Comes with a pistol rug for storage and transport.

Frequently Asked Questions

What thread pitch is the Buck Mark Contour Pro barrel, and is it suppressor-ready?

The barrel is threaded 1/2"-28, which is the standard thread pitch for .22 LR suppressors. The compensator that ships with the gun is removable, so swapping it for a suppressor is straightforward. Just make sure you have the appropriate paperwork sorted before purchasing a suppressor.

What's the difference between the 4.4" and 5.9" Buck Mark Contour Pro models?

The 4.4" version is more compact and a bit lighter, which makes it faster to point and a good fit for shooters who prefer a shorter pistol or plan to run it suppressed where the overall length advantage matters. The 5.9" model gives you a longer sight radius for iron sights and a slightly heavier feel that some target shooters prefer for steadiness. Both share the same core features, frame, sights, rails, and compensator setup.

What ammo runs best in the Buck Mark Contour Pro?

CCI Mini-Mags and similar high-velocity round-nose loads are a go-to recommendation for reliable cycling, especially during break-in. Standard velocity ammunition can be more accurate in a tuned gun but may not cycle as reliably until the action has loosened up a bit after a few hundred rounds. Avoid cheap bulk hollow-point ammo early on, as .22 LR quality varies a lot and blowback pistols tend to be more sensitive to it than rifles.

Does the Buck Mark Contour Pro come with a red dot sight?

No, this model comes with iron sights only, specifically the TRUGLO green fiber optic front and the adjustable Pro-Target rear. The top Picatinny rail is fully optics-ready, so dropping a red dot or micro reflex sight on it is easy. The irons are co-witness capable, so you can keep them as a backup.

How does the Buck Mark's trigger compare to other .22 pistols?

The gold-plated single-action trigger on the Buck Mark is genuinely one of its standout features, with a clean, light break and minimal overtravel. It regularly draws comparisons to competition-style triggers and is one of the reasons the platform has a long history in Steel Challenge and Rimfire Challenge matches. If you want to go further, there is a solid aftermarket from companies like TandemKross for drop-in upgrades.

Is the Buck Mark Contour Pro hard to disassemble and clean?

It's not the simplest .22 to field strip compared to something like a modern polymer pistol, but once you've done it a couple of times it becomes routine. Browning's instruction manual walks through the process clearly, and there are plenty of video guides online specific to the Buck Mark platform. Regular cleaning matters with .22 LR, since rimfire ammo tends to leave more residue than centerfire, so budget some time after range sessions.
