Standard and high-velocity .22 LR loads tend to cycle the most reliably. Very low-powered ammunition, such as subsonic rounds running in the 700 fps range or quieter specialty loads, may not generate enough energy to reliably cycle the straight blowback action. CCI standard and high-velocity loads are frequently recommended by experienced owners. It's a good habit to run a variety of loads through any new rimfire to find what it likes best.
