Description

There's a reason the Citori name has been around since 1973. Some over/unders are so fancy you hesitate to take them past the gun room door, and that's exactly the problem this one solves. The Citori Hunter Grade I is Browning's working-grade break action, built on the same rugged Miroku-made platform that has earned a reputation for going tens of thousands of rounds without complaint. This version wears a 28 inch vent-rib barrel set in 20 gauge with 3 inch chambers, giving you a gun that swings smoothly on crossing birds but still carries light through a long day in the field.

Field Manners of the Citori Hunter Grade I

At roughly six and a half pounds, this 20 gauge hits a sweet spot between quick handling and steady swing. The barrels are regulated for a 50/50 point of impact, which is the setup you want when a rooster flushes at your feet one minute and a clay crosses overhead the next. Chrome-plated chambers shrug off corrosion, and the lengthened Vector Pro forcing cones help smooth out patterns and take a little sting out of recoil. A single selective trigger and tang-mounted barrel selector let you pick your choke on the fly, and the silver bead up front keeps your eye where it belongs.

Grade I Walnut, Blued Steel, Gold Accents

The satin-finished Grade I American walnut stock looks right at home in a pheasant field, and the Inflex recoil pad keeps things comfortable through a full box of shells. Blued barrels and receiver get a touch of gold enhancement, enough character to remind you what you're carrying without turning it into a safe queen.

Chokes and Versatility Out of the Box

Browning includes three flush Invector-Plus choke tubes in Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder, so you're covered from tight-holding quail to late-season birds flushing wild. Whether this becomes your dedicated upland gun or pulls double duty at the sporting clays course, it's the kind of shotgun that gets handed down rather than traded in.

Frequently Asked Questions

What chokes come with the Browning Citori Hunter Grade I 20 gauge?

This model ships with three flush-fit Invector-Plus choke tubes: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. That trio covers most upland hunting and clay target situations right out of the box. Since it uses the Invector-Plus system, you can also add extended or specialty tubes down the road.

Can I shoot steel shot through the Citori Hunter Grade I?

Yes. Browning builds Citori barrels with steel shot performance in mind, and the chrome-plated chambers add durability and corrosion resistance. Just follow the standard guidance of running steel through more open chokes like Improved Cylinder or Modified rather than the Full tube.

Is this Citori better suited for hunting or clay shooting?

It does both well. The barrels are set up for a 50/50 point of impact, which works whether a bird flushes from cover or a clay crosses overhead. The 28 inch barrels give a smooth swing on the sporting clays course, while the roughly six and a half pound weight keeps it comfortable to carry all day in the field.

Where is the Browning Citori made?

Citori shotguns have been built for Browning by the Miroku Corporation in Japan since the model debuted in 1973. Miroku's fit and finish is highly regarded, and the Citori line has earned a decades-long reputation for durability and dependable function.
