Plenty of shotguns claim they can pull double duty between the clays course and the uplands. The Browning Citori CXS is one of the few that genuinely delivers on it. Browning built this 12 gauge around a 50/50 point of impact, so the gun shoots flat and true whether you're crushing crossers on station four or swinging on a flushing rooster. The 28-inch lightweight profile barrels carry a flat floating vent rib with ventilated side ribs, and ivory front and mid beads give your eye a clean reference on any background.
The bones here are classic Citori: a full-width tapered locking bolt, full-width hinge pin, and a low-profile receiver that has been proving itself since the early 1970s. These guns are known for digesting six-figure round counts, and the chrome-plated 3-inch chambers only help on the durability front. Vector Pro lengthened forcing cones and back-bored barrels smooth out patterns and take some sting out of recoil, while the Inflex pad soaks up the rest. You also get Browning's Triple Trigger system, which lets you adjust the trigger shoe across three positions to dial in your length of pull, a feature usually reserved for guns costing quite a bit more.
The polished blued receiver wears a gold Citori CXS logo on each side, and the Grade II American walnut stock has a gloss finish with real figure to it. It's a handsome gun that still feels right at home getting dirty in a duck blind or grouse cover.
Three extended Invector-Plus Midas grade choke tubes come standard: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. That covers everything from skeet distances to late-season pheasants without buying another tube. Hammer ejectors kick empties clear, the top tang safety doubles as a barrel selector, and the whole package balances the way a Citori should: smooth, steady, and easy to swing.

Yes, the barrels are rated for steel shot performance, and the chrome-plated 3-inch chambers add durability and corrosion resistance for waterfowl duty. Just follow standard practice and avoid shooting steel through the Full choke; the Modified or Improved Cylinder tubes are the better call with steel loads.
It's an adjustable trigger setup that lets you move the trigger shoe between three positions to fine-tune your length of pull. The factory length of pull is 14.75 inches, so taller or shorter-armed shooters can get a proper fit without cutting the stock. The trigger itself is a crisp inertia type with hammer ejectors backing it up.
