Instead of the old long-recoil action, this A5 runs Browning's Kinematic Drive System, a short recoil-operated design that uses the gun's own recoil energy to cycle the bolt. Since no gas gets bled into the action, it stays cleaner between cleanings and keeps running through light target loads and stout 3" waterfowl shells without any adjustment on your end.
The flat-topped humpback receiver isn't just nostalgia. It stretches your sight plane and blends right into the vent rib, so your eye settles naturally behind the fiber-optic front sight and ivory mid bead. Pair that with a lightweight aluminum alloy receiver and a 26" barrel, and you get a 12 gauge that comes in around 6 pounds 11 ounces and swings fast on flushing birds and crossing ducks alike. The Inflex II recoil pad pulls the comb away from your cheek under recoil, which takes real sting out of a long day in the blind.
This Hunter model wears a gloss-finished Turkish walnut stock and forend with cut checkering and a close radius pistol grip, set against a high-gloss blued barrel and black anodized receiver. The gold-plated trigger and Buckmark engraving on the trigger guard round out a field gun that looks right at home over a pointing dog or hanging in the safe next to Grandpa's original. The stock is shim adjustable for length of pull, cast, and drop, so you can dial the fit to your build.
The 3" chamber and 4+1 capacity with 2-3/4" shells give you plenty of flexibility, and the included Invector-DS flush chokes in Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder cover everything from tight goose passes to close-flushing quail. It's recoil operated, using Browning's Kinematic Drive System. Yes, and that's one of the big selling points of the Kinematic Drive action. It's designed to run everything from 1 ounce field loads up to heavy 3" waterfowl shells without swapping parts or making adjustments. You can. The Turkish walnut stock is shim adjustable for length of pull, cast, and drop, so you can fine-tune how the gun mounts to your shoulder and where your eye lines up on the rib. That kind of adjustability is a big help for getting consistent patterns on birds and clays.

The modern A5 shares the iconic humpback receiver shape with John Browning's original, but the internals are completely new, with a short recoil action replacing the old long-recoil design.
